Marinizing diesels
 

Anyone know if its possible to marinze this diesel?

i would say the first problem would be getting your hands on one, i bet there are only a few running examples around... second problem is that although powerful in a 1000kg car, that 1100 Nm (about 812 lb-ft) won't be very impressive in a bigger boat... also the entirely aluminum construction wouldn't lend itself to salt water very well... there are other diesels in the market that would probably compete with this engine (even if you could get one) at a fraction of the cost...
it also looks wide, so a twin application might be difficult...
then you have the water jacketed turbos and headers of course..

it's an impressive auto racing engine, but i doubt it would cross well into the marine world..

true, i just saw it and thought i would throw it up there. Although most of those issues could be dealt with and theyre still much more powerful then my 525's.
Its still nice to see diesel R&D that should translate to more options for us in the future.
