Lake Norman NC

Does anyone know if they have a speed limit on Lake Norman? A bunch of guys that I boat with thought it would be fun to go down there on Mother's Day when the NASCAR guys have time off and see if we can find a boat race. Probably get our butts kicked, but it would sure be fun playing with them rich boys. Please post if you have any information.
Thanks, Tom Earhart

Tom no speed limit on Lake Norman. As far as a boat race I don't think you will have to ride around to long before you find one. Watcha bringin. :evilb:

Mark, I have a 24 Eliminator with a twin turbo 572" chevy, B-Max drive, and Herring prop. It accelerates hard to about 130 mph
Thanks, Tom

There is always someone willing to play. If you go in the afternoon though, it's going to be rough for a 24' boat. Spectre, Skater, Eliminator, DCB, Nortech can be found on any given weekend. Send me a PM and I will put you on my FUN RUN e-mail list !

Re: Lake Norman NC

I know of at least a half dozen 130 mph plus boats on lake norman now. I know the big skater is suppose to be around 160 now. Plenty of 100mph boats. Mothers day weekend is when most of the nascar boys are with their families, but they do occassionly get out on the water on Saturday.
Come on down, and let us know when you are coming, and we can help you find a place to put in and where to stay and eat.
Steve

Gentlemen you'll be disapponted to learn their is only a few boats owned by Nascar guys that run a 100 or close. I've got a 43 scarab with trip 900's & run in the low to mid 90's. Here's a pic.

Yes..the Hampton Run gave me a huge buzz last year that I can't get past :) - always looking!

Regarding party, I was just down having drinks with the boys...unfortunately, I am off for travel tomorrow and will miss the big party however, I heard you were out as well?

As for Larry, haven't spoken to him in 6 months.....he is MIA after several unreturned phone calls. Don't ever see him on the forum anymore either :(

Can't quite run 130 but I'm always up for trying. That should be a good weekend.

Dude, I owe you a serious apology. Work has me running in 50 different directions and the lake house madness has officially begun. Hopefully, we will have a finished product sometime in June.

I will give you a shout to catch up...and I owe you about 100 beers. :drink:

Tom, Paul here. Is Dan taking the Skater also, maybe we could take the Marlin down? You would have to wait for us though. Did not know you were thinking about moving. Gun too slow? Let me know if you are considering doing it this year. Would like to get the Haltech's tuned in the Scorpion again. Paul

That looks like it except the engine hatch looks differant. I bought it at the end of 02 from a guy that lived in Clevland & boated on Lake Erie. Thanks.

I thought that it had once belonged to one of the local engine builders here. We haven't seen it around in a while.

Yes I bought it from a local engine biulder I can't remember his name now. I've changed the blowers to 10/71 bds & I have headers being built for it. It should be bad to the bone at least for a striaght bottom Scarab. I think his name is Dale Francis.

Name sounds right. That boat should really run! Seemed to run really well when it was on Lake Erie.

Re: Lake Norman NC

It runs really good for a big flat bottom Scarab I'm in the mid 90's. I'm installing headers & turning up the boast I hope to see 100 if not I'm seroursly considering trading it foe an Outerlimits GTX. But that boat is 3 times the cost which is hard to swallow.
