Default Scarab 26 and Baja 272

Both are 1998 that I am looking at.

Both have a 502 Magnum

Scarab is 23 degree deadrise, Baja is 24

Scarab seems a bit heavier

Socal Ocean 90% of the time

Assume same price

In rough ride, build quality, or performance, is one clearly superior to the other?

Any known issues with a Scarab 26?

Any opinions specifically on these boats?

Thanks for the help.

If you are in the ocean most of the time I would be looking for a bigger boat. I think I remember hearing about stringer rot problems with the Scarab.

I had a 26' and now a 31, totally agree with Dave M, go bigger. I tired quickly of the 26 once outside the inlet, the 26' took a beating. The 31 is much better but still a little short on some days as you want a boat that is long enough to run crest to crest of the waves. I've been on 35's on up and compared to my 31, the 35 is a lot better ride when the seas kick up a bit even on a nice sunny day. Bottom line...... for the ocean go as big as you can afford.... Get some seat experience and decide for yourself what is going to suit you in the conditions which are the norm for your area. Good luck!

I test drove a 1998 26 Scarab, the one I tested the graphics where pealing off and the winshield was ready to fall off, it had 68 hours on it in a tenn river. I was so disappointed I didn't even make an offer. Really cheap built boat,

Go with the Baja if the decision is between those two
