what is a good brand that will last for more than 4 holes??? or doesn't break after 10 minutes of use :mad:

i have a snap on set that serves me well. All bits need to be sharpened from time to time.

have snap on cobolt bits,

a bit pricey but it is what it is,

oh and a drill doctor to sharpen them when they do dull

I have an older drill doctor and I hate it. I'm thinking about picking up a new one. How are the newer generation drill doctors?

I have a Snap on set, and a Matco set. I never buy cheap tools... :D

I know the feeling I actually have about 4 sets of snapons but ussually only use the cobolts... h*ll I think I paid for my snappy dealers house over the years

The Dewalts with the drill tip are actually very good. The most common mistake that I see is that people drill with the bit dry or way to fast. Keep your speeds slower and as much preasure as you can and don't let it wobble. I drilled about 16 holes through 3/16ths steel and it was still drilling as fast as the first one. They also do not need to be stepped up.

If you are using 1/4" drill bits use the stubbys and by from an industrial supply place. I buy over $5000 per year in drill bits and I have found that the stubbys or better known as aircraft bits are the best and last the longest. I am not in the office now to check the name brand, but it is the best bits I have every bought. I want to say they are viking, but I am not sure. I will check and repost tomorrow.

You guys actually own drill bits long enough to sharpen them?
