What about Metro Beach? Sterling S/B is a nice launch but avoid low water time their channel isn't dredged very deep. You come out just north of the park at Detroit Beach Boat Club (sorry) not the Raisin River. Grosse Ile has public access site also. The DNR publishes a pamphlet that lists all access sites. Maybe contact them. I picked one up at a boat show.

jr- I'm talkin mid 80's and earlier! Maybe before your time, lol! At least I know where you mean by downriver- Romulus,Wyandotte,"Taylor-Tuckey", River Rouge, Ecorse, Gibraltar, to name a few. I didn't know Grosse Ille had a public ramp. I know someone who lives at the south end, by the airport (if it's still there). There also used to be a place called Dearborn Marina. I don't know what happened to it after the old man who owned it died. It was on the Rouge River, between Jefferson Ave bridge the Fort St bridge (if memory serves me correct), or near the Ford Casting plant, where the freighters come to unload ore.

All good info thanks. I put in a metro and the DNR ramp on South River Road all the time. I was looking for closer to work so I could dump it in after work and take the buddys for a spin, or a short cut to Put-In-Bay. Just looking for something alittle different. Thanks for the idea of the DNR. Never thought of them. Although I use their ramp.

I often put in at Boyles Harbor a few exits south of Monroe. Good ramps and once you get to the entrance bouy its a straight shot at 120 degrees to Put In Bay about 30 miles. From Alen Park its about 30 min to ramp max a lot less time and fuel than launching from Detroit river areas. Its deep water the whole way too no net spikes either.

jr,
Speakin of DNR, I forgot I had this site on my bookmark list, check it out , it lists DNR marinas and whether they have ramps, and what other facilities, etc. Unfortunately, it does not list ones that are ramps only, but maybe it will be of some help. http://www.ring.com/travel/dnr/marinaer.htm

JR, we've used the ramps at Elizabeth Park in Trenton. It's been a couple of years and we haven't tried it since our 21 footer. Haven't put the current boat in though, so I can't help you with how the depth and the length of the ramp is. It's right next to the south bridge to Grosse Ile and is probably the closest ramp to Crystal Bay. You just have to run around the south end of the island. Bring a chart...
