Alright Stereo Guys
This weekend i am hooking up the stereo, ive got roughly 17'-23' from the batteries to the amps, and i have one rockford punch 500 amp, and one kicker 200 amp, im going to run power from the 1 baterry to a splitter, roughly 17'-23', and the from the spliter to each amp roughly 2'-3'. What gauge should i use for the long haul, and what for the short, i know there is some sort of equation to tell me this

Re: Alright Stereo Guys
One or Two ga for the 17 foot run and 4 ga from the distro block should be plenty.
If you add amps consider a cap. Have fun. |
Re: Alright Stereo Guys
Heck.... even 8ga from the distro would do it.

Re: Alright Stereo Guys
i was thinking 4 gauge to the distro (20') and 8 ga to the amps (3')... Not good???
thanks for the replys too, keep em comin |
Re: Alright Stereo Guys
I personally think 4 ga. would be fine, but keep in mind that there is no such thing as having too big of a gauge. and be sure to run the same size power and ground.

Re: Alright Stereo Guys
if i had too big of gauge, wouldnt i essentially lose power or distort power at that length, what key am i missing here on ga and length
|
Re: Alright Stereo Guys
I think that I used 2 ga to the distro 15 feet, and 8 ga from the distro to amps (1 foot).

Re: Alright Stereo Guys
4 gauge would be plenty, but if the amps accept 4 gauge run it to the amps as well......that way its not a firehidrent then a garden hose.....
