Re: Stolen................recovered!
It said the 30 Spectre that was stolen from Pro Rock was recovered? Is this true? Would have thought that someone around here would have mentioned it.

Re: Stolen................recovered!
So far what I know is the boat was stripped. Gauges Steering and Motors. Left behind were trim pumps, engine brackets and center tab. The boat was left in good shape except for where they took out the helm. Otherwise, from what I was told, the gauges were removed piece by piece and no other damage was done.
So with some minor glass work in the helm area and re-rig of new engines, he should be back out on the water soon... I don't know the specifics as how they caught up with the boat. I do know there was a Superboat taken that same week from Long Island, NY and they found them both at the same location. Exactly who and where I don't know at this time. |

Recovered,,,,, or Stumbled upon???
IMHO, I think most of these recovered boats are really "Discovered",,,, or stumbled upon when they are stripped and left after the theft. It is very hard for the authorities to trace, follow, etc. a stolen boat. They are recovered when the neighbors, or some other public citizen starts to complain to the police about the boat that is in his way. Or when the landlord of a rented building or storage space does not get his rent and goes there to try to collect. The moral of this story,,??? Don't leave your boat is a unprotected space, make sure it is locked more then one way,, don't make it easy for it to get stolen,, when leaving it for the winter block it in with another Vehicle,, or dump a load of stone in front of it, as we have read, the Spectre stolen in NJ from Pro-rock was very hard for the thieves to get out of the lot, Like Sharkey said, the lot was packed with other boats, and there was a chain at the exit,, but the boat got stolen anyway... make it hard, and the thieves will go look elsewhere.
