Re: Attn. NJ Boaters
This will be a mad dash to get a certification just like when they did it with pwc's. There was a test option for experienced boaters then too. That was the easiest way out and what I did. That was then offered by the state police so I think Tim is right with that being the best source of info for now. If you have an coast guard cert. boaters safety course , that worked too right away. Like someone else said, who has that from when they were 14 or 15. Brush up on your markers and take the test. The pwc test was way more than you need for a pwc. Im sure they will have more on this test.
p.s. I've never ever seen sharkey in a boat that wasn't over powered! |

Re: Attn. NJ Boaters
Q5: Can I take a test in lieu of a boaters safety course?
There is language written into the new law that will provide a written test in leu of the boat safety course for experienced boaters. The criteria and the test have not yet been developed. The Superintendent is responsible for establishing the criteria. We do not yet know the timeframe for when this will be completed. You can check back with us as will be monitoring this and posting information on our website as it becomes available. Melissa Danko Executive Director Marine Trades Association of New Jersey |

Was guilty as charge and paid the fine before I left. Otherwise they threatened to impound the boat and put me before a judge. I wanted no part of that.... |
