Re: Thoughts on 42 Tiger????

THe 42 was designed by Cigarette (Craig Barrie) for the bravo set-up. Hence the 1/2 cabin and improved lighter BalTEch layup used on the 1998 38 F-2 World Champion. If you start playing with the CG by adding weigh and moving it forward on a straight bottom, the porpoising problem will happen. Raising the "x" might help the problem. Alot of work and money. the Konrads on boxes to keep the weight back is probably the best option up 750 ft.lbs. of torque.

My $.02

So porposing is caused by putting too much weight forward?
I woulda thought it was the otherway around.

These rigs are sick, sick I tell ya... :drink:

Just browse boattraderonline.com. Probably the biggest boat classifed site on the net. There is one 2000 on there currently with #6's. Straight hull 42's started in 98 and ended in 2000, with the 2000 model year a vaccum bag hull... The fact that there are so few for sale speaks volumes.

Russ C. (t500hps on the board) posted info on this thread http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ght=2000+tiger post # 33. I bought the boat and the guy never spent a dime on an ad. I had been shopping for while and there weren't that many then and aren't now. Since then I have rebuilt the power, dynoing at 700hp, and purchased brand new xr's from BAM.

I can't speak with regard to the performance with #6's.

There is not a package that I would rather have. This rig of mine runs as flat and level with no porpoise... The lines on this boat are ridiculous. People stare at ahhh at the docks...

I was literally def in my left ear for three days from the blower motors screaming! :eek:

That life vest was like 3 sizes too small. I remember the first time I put it on I was seriously having a hard time trying to breathe! Yes, those Teague motors were LOUD!

By moving weight forward you will plow the nose. The compinsate for that you have to trim the drives higher to get the nose up. At lower speeds (cruise) 50-60 you starts porposing, then you have to add tab to compinsate for that which slows you down. Visious circle. This is not always the case, especially with step bottoms. But from experience that is what I have found.

I guess the porposing depends on the set up, here is mine at 65 or so and riding great. Tabs are above level.

Re: Thoughts on 42 Tiger????

Although my boat is not a Tiger...it's been my experience that driving a boat with rocker requires it to be on it's heels to go fast.

There's a fine line between carrying the nose, and getting it up on the rocker (you can see some of it in Kenny's video).

loose = fast
