Looks like a lake sturgeon, which are quite common in Champlain.

Discovery was re-airing the special they filmed on Champlain from a few years ago this weekend.

Champlain isn't the cleanest water. It would be hard to make out any fins on a fish you where filming as it swam by.

You want to catch an ugly a$$ fish in Champlain go find yourself a bowfin, damn ugly!

That's not me by the way, I found it on the net. I have a pic somewhere of my ex holding a bowfin during the ice fishing derby from a few years ago but I can't find it.

The Champ stories used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid. But I will say one thing, I have pulled some BIG mother fukin' eels out of that lake.

I've seen the wake pictured on many occasions moving by us when we're parked on the boat... I think its a big azz turtle.
