Thats easy when the boat is running perfect and its boating season. Its when I have to work on the boat that is the problem. Good advice though, you definately have the right idea. I like the "You are perfect, but the boat is not as perfect as you and needs some maintenance" line, I'm definately gonna use that one.

She is a great girl, just doesn't understand how the whole realm of things works. If I don't get the boat done this weekend, then I have to take a couple days off of work to get it done, then I have no vacation time left, then we can't go to Hawaii, etc. A bit over dramatic and slight exageration, but she got the idea. It just always ends up taking longer than I expect.

Ummm, not so well. Last week we were driving around thinking about the upcoming season. I told her I need to double what I make. She turned to me and said, yes you do... :eek:

I said; "What about you?" Then she started laughing... :eek:


Dude, tack on at least an extra hour or two when she asks how long you'll be working on the boat. That way when you get home early you can surprise her and tell her that you came home early to be with her! :drink:

Everytime the discussion turns to $$$, I can guarantee I am going to hear about the boat.

Funny thing about all these posts, seems like second time around, you don't go about it the same way you did on the first trip.

And as wise old friend told me when I was younger and complaining about a woman, "Buddy, all I can tell you is when the f'ing your getting aint worth the f'ing your taking, it's time to move on.

My wife has always been supportive of boating. When we were dating, she surprised me at the shop one day. She showed up with her "grubby clothes" and helped me block-sand the boat project of the time.

She still gets involved in our projects and we just celebrated our 25th anniversary!

But I have to admit: she is still number 1 in my life.
