It seems a little cleaner than the factory layout with the GPS in the middle.
I think it also allows for quicker scan of the engine funtion guages with them closer together like this.
Now I just need to get my glass guy to fill-in the old holes!

This was actually the original lay-out with a Raytheon GPS unit from the factory. The Garmin 182C is much bigger, too big for the center location. Fuel pressure guages (R lower) and 120 m.p.h. liquid speedo were added by the previous owner for blower motor application:
