Steve, thanks for all the info, glad you decided to post some of the facts and personal observations. Can you post pics of your previous 3 Powerplays?? Wasn't one of them, 1 of the 2 built with 300's on the back? If so was it the purple or the orange one?? Thanks, Darren

Ahem, I may be a little off the pace here but would like to know the following:

Steve, if you purchased the 38 mold at the auction, how come you never left with it, how come Midnight Express, how come Sunsation?

Not trying to be clever, I just don't have the whole picture...

I had three, all center consoles two with outboards and one with IO's.

The first one was a red, white, yellow, and black 1997 with twin 250 EFI's.

The Second was a purple boat with Powerplay in huge letters written down the side with 502 EFI's.

The third I custom built to match the First one with the same color scheme and it had 300X's.

Come on Steve!...you know the rules here, you can't talk about a boat unless you post us pictures of the boat(s). Maybe you know somebody important in the OSO chain of command to defy the rules?

I did not want to be a boat builder and some one else needed all the molds, I will leave it at that.

I think PP has its name and legend with its 33. Cuz I'd take that over a 31 bullet, but not sure about a Cafe...
But the 38TG is Cigs staple.

well,
we were just under 800 hp, we ran the props inward with XR shorties. The boat ran 101 and i know we had 3-5 mph left. Jimmy Mac from Falcon marine took the time to help me get her there....great boat. imagine in 2 years (hopefully) you can put the new ace drive behind her...

As far as the molds being old and not being taken care of, why do you say that? That boat was built by Danny and the molds were always taken care of, always out of the sun and rain. There probably has not been 15 boats popped off that mold.

Not trying to discredit your post but I am stating the facts.
Take a look at the bottom of the boat, it was rough, there was a slight imperfection in one of the chines, look at the step, tell me what you think, and lastly look at the side of the boat from the bulkhead forward, just slightly wavy, but better than 90% of the boats that were represented at this years show. Being white and dirty helped this, but I have looked at several 33 PP, one in particular at the Old TMP shop in LA, and the mold work was the best I have ever seen on a V bottom. I WAS UNAWARE that that particular boat was 2 years old and was used, makes alot of sense. I should have asked more Q's, I wanted to get to all the hi -perf booths to make evaluations on quality. My comment on the molds were only due to what I have read here on OSO after the BK of PP, not by personal observations. I wish today the PP quality could be the same under new ownership. Jeff
