Anyone know the smallest GPS Plotter?
1 Attachment(s)
I'm laying out the new dash in the MTI. The dash on the MTI is very small. There is not much room at all. After the gauges required, which is eliminating quite a few the I normally use, there isn't room for a normal GPS. What is the smallest Color GPS Plotter out there? It has to go into the dash, not the type you mount on top with in internal antenna. It also has to be a high end model. In the Motion I put a NavMan which was beautiful, the problem was, the boats acceleration was much faster then the GPS. I would be slowing down from a speed run and 5 seconds later the GPS was still climbing.

Re: Anyone know the smallest GPS Plotter?
I just put a Stardard Horizon CP 155C Color GPS/Chartplotter in my 30 Motion - had a similar problem with space - I needed one that was rectangular and not very tall. So far I am happy with it, but in all fairness, have only used the boat twice since it was installed.

Re: Anyone know the smallest GPS Plotter?
Could you not use the merc smart craft and eliminate some gauges and thereby free up some room?

Re: Anyone know the smallest GPS Plotter?
It looks to me that if you relocate the stereo head there should be room for a Garmin 2106 or 2206 on the right side of helm. That has a 6" screen. Anything smaller and I would think it would be too hard to read at speed. With that MTI you are going to be out front and really do need to know where you are going. Good luck.

Gino,
any plans for the green dash panels? I see you were looking for gauges. Jeff |
Re: Anyone know the smallest GPS Plotter?
I'd remove the trim indicators and replace them with the heads-up dash mounts. Then put any GPS you want down there.

Re: Anyone know the smallest GPS Plotter?
Can you make a pod for them to stick up out of; to the right of the steering wheel? Either than, or have them come out horizontally into your right thigh, and you can set your trim by brail. :D :D

Re: Anyone know the smallest GPS Plotter?
Did you see the layout of my dash? GPS speedo is seperate gauge. The GPS Nav is a good size.

you could go real high-tech and set it up like this.
You can toggle that screen between gauges and charts and whatever... |
Re: Anyone know the smallest GPS Plotter?
Check out the raymarine E series. You can have a radar, chartplotter, depth sounder, and add a camera to see whats coming up behind you. Its also capable of Sirius weather so you can see the weather radars and forecast in real time. You can mount it in dash.
