I run Latham external/full helm and don't use the extra reservoir. I have never had a problem with overflow or heat, I use a cooler.

The point is if I remember some older systems were designed with the reservoir because of larger cylinder design or longer throw and they required a larger volume of fluid. Just something to kick around I like the cleaner look.

I cant see your pics cuz im not a $ member here, but, in this link you can see the pics of the MM resorvoir my bud put in his slingshot.. i thought it was pretty cool looking....

buy one from Merc, have it painted,powdercoated or chromed, then problem solved
