Ah shucks, T2x... I'm getting all watery eyed.
Look, exceeding your limits is what going fast is all about. Once the limit is exceeded, the comfort level becomes what the limit was prior. What you mention in your last post looks like an attempt to say that only a few of the priviledged 'naturals' should be driving boats at speed and the rest are spoiled Richie Rich's hoping to do a little Klaus von Bulow to their wife and kids in a post-modern technicolor dream stuff. C'mon, how are any of us to approach being as good as you are without practicing our magic on a few waves, learning from our mistakes? Its my boat, I bought it, I can stuff it. Peel it up like a big red radish for all anyone cares. Sink like an iron kettle, drown like a fish, Cat, V runabout, Hatteras... Even a Catalina '36 can be mangled. You sound like the Tipper Gore of Offshore, label the boats and drivers as hell bent for devil-worshipping speed monsters who constantly tax government provided insurance and medical resources in a quest to impress the demi-god demon of speed. But diversity is the mother of... It used to be anyway. Hell, the rest of us 'mere mortals' should be resigned to pushing our flat bottomed pole-skiffs in mosquito infested swamps and mud bogs so as not to upset the Universal Balance. My hero! Wondering if you could start another post (that may be of more actual use than your self-actualizating extreme boat handling auto-erotisms) on "Driving a High Performance Boat, Cat and V, at Speed: Some useful, hard earned tips on how not to Stuff and Puff". Problem with that post is that it would be real short. It would seem to me that the advice of t2x would go something along the lines of:
"there is no safe way to drive a v over 35 mph, unless it is a richie boat or I was on the design team" or "there has not been a v built since '65 that is worth is salt. just say no." or "cat or v, if your name's not in my book, you should stick to john boats." By the way, t2x, have you chosen a date to meet up with high-tide? |
Where did that come from?
Rwilson....which one of the beach boys are you again?...Look ....Vees are fine to 80 or so..in the right hands... kill yourself if you want to...it's a free country...just remember that death lasts a very long time...and other people have to comfort your family after you're gone.... That's the saddest part especially when there are kids involved.... I've dealt with this first hand on more than one occasion... you haven't...or if you have you don't give a damn....Makes you seem like a really manly tough guy huh?.... If, however, you kill your passengers, girlfriend, or children ...then you're simply a fool. Of course you won't be around to get offended by the label..... so I'll allow you the advantage while you're alive...you write like a potential fool. Adivanman.....you know?.. Oh forget it...Go find another "Llama racer" and make trouble with one of them..... Funny thing, I just reread your post on the top of this page...seems like somebody else wrote it....Look up "schizophrenia" and take 2 aspirin.... [ 09-27-2001: Message edited by: T2x ] |

Upon further reflection---------
I like Vee bottomed Shadows, Challengers, Sutphens, Apaches, Cigarettes, Velocitys, Sonics, Bertrams, CUV's, Cougars and some others. I don't like Step bottomed Vees, Glitz, hype, corporate speak, Bar speeds, over powered boats, lightly laid up "Factory Race models", "Popped" boats and their builders, unqualified operators, and junk of any description. If this annoys you......Life just isn't fair sometimes. |
T2x,
..Don't pull any punches..tell 'em how you really feel!! :D  ;) |
T2"Zzzz"...
Well T2, I'm the Beachboy you had a crush on... but alas you decided to get all wrapped up and into those Macho Fasss't'y boats to hide your lust... the Gimp musta _really_ shook your barrel... had to turn off "Pulp Fiction", didn't cha! Now that I've gotten the rhetorical outta da way, here's where I'z a coming from... playin' possum and spoutin' "WhaddayIdo?" after knocking every boat-lovin' pilgrim that ever pushed 'em forward..(Whoa. No, easy T2. No.. No.. put down the latex, little fella... No, this is _not_ the Beachboy fantasy... when I say "Pushed 'em forward", "'em" is short for "Them", not "him".. It's O.K. You're home now.) just ain't right. Plain 'n simple. I think you get it... Whoah, that was easy huh. Take the "blue" pill next time. I really liked the V-bottom/Cat insight you provide and the history. We love you man, but you start preaching from "Oh-On-High" about folks not knowing all of the consequences, Bla Bla Bla... Ever think they might have earned the $$$ that got them the boat? Most of the people here are fairly savvy folk. They all understand the risks of moving quickly on the water... Try using your experience to SOLVE the problem, not just "Chicken Little'ing" the joint with your Gore (pun intented, hear that, Tipper?) stories. We would seriously listen to a well thought out dissertation on boat control at high speed... the do's and don'ts... You have the experience. Pass it on. Save a life. Do your part. Be a smart guy. Otherwise.... "She's real fine, my 409." Say three times and click together those fantastic red heels of yours.. all the while giving little Toto a BIG hug :D |
how about a cannonball run. This will weed out the *****s. he he he, :D
