You could buy a new Topgun in 02 for 240- 250ish. Four years later, they seem to be bringing 200-220 ish. In 04, a new Topgun was around 305- 315 ish, and today, the right one will bring up to 275 ish. That is incredible resale value if you ask me. As far as Gladiators, it all depends on the boats.There were alot of updates and configurations on these boats.Side by side, staggered, wide cockpit and narrow cockpit. And, there are alot of tired, mediocre,questionable history boats out there as well. I still think that the resale (while not as good as the Topgun) is as good or better than any of the competition .Of course it helps if the boat has been nicely maintained and has the right graphics.

P.S. In 02, I was offerd a new Gladiator for around $155K. What is a 02 Gladiator worth now?

I would agree, cars, boats or whatever you need inventory to offset the ones that don't sell for much of a profit. You might make it on one or two, but the third might get you. I've managed car dealerships and will get back into in the future as an owner of one.

Having said that; for cars with my partner (Brother) we are doing strictly older Porsches, he's trying to add Ferrari to the deal. We will also do parts and performance enhancements on a small scale. In the next couple years if successfull, I would not mind adding boats.

For the resale value Cigs are on the top of a specialty inventory list much like Ferrari and Porsche. Believe you need three things to be more successfull in dealerships; one you must specialize in one or two makes that are consistent in good resale value and sales demand. Second you must have a supply of clean inventory. Last a love for what you sell is a must!!!

I think the Gladiator is a rare case. It happens to be my absolute favorite Cig as far as looks go but it's the one boat my wife would rather I never buy. For her, the absence of a cabin is a deal breaker, for me it's the perfect size, I love the capped deck, staggered motors, cockpit layout. I could see them being hard to sell because a lot of people wouldn't be willing to own a boat that size without a cabin.

I think it has alot to do with how many are made each year?

Yep on the gladiator..how many people want a big boat with no cabin? You can't cruise that boat and overnight at an out of the way anchorage.

I am surprised the used ones as worth as much as they are. Plus, you KNOW they have been beat on very hard.

I have to agree! I am not a Cig owner, but I would love to own one someday. I think most people also feel the same deep down even if they won't admit it. It amazes me what some of the well cared for late 80's Cigs are going for. I bet they are close to what they sold for new.

This is a general comment, not concerning cigs. I think that many used boats are extremely over priced. Maybe, this is due to the fact they are financed over longer terms and the owners are upside down in them. Just seems to be a trend that I have noticed while browsing the classifieds!

BTW Cigs rule!
