Do Cigs have superior resale value?
First, let me say that I think Cigarette builds an
incredible boat. Their rigging, design and overall build quality is second to none. The statement that they have superior resale value has been made numerous times in many threads. Is it really true ? It seems to me in looking thru the classifieds, that this really doesn't seem to be the case. Yes the are usally selling for more than Donzi,Formula and Fountain......but they cost 2-3 times more to begin with. The Gladiator market really comes to mind. It seems they have a really low resale compared to the price they cost new and there seems to be a few of them that have been for sale for quite some time. Cigs guys, please don't get all defensive. This is not a dis. Your boats are awesome. I'm just curious as the "high resale statement" gets used quite often. |
Re: Do Cigs have superior resale value?
I don't have a cig but I looked at many when I was in the market. I would have to say they hold their value pretty well. Also, most of the cigs I looked at were sold within months after I inquired. I don't know what all of them went for but I do know that a few went pretty close to what they were asking. The early 90's topguns are still getting good money. You also have to consider that 99-02 models were considerably less money than 05-06 models when purchased new. Overall, I would have to give them the #1 ranking for resale value. Thats my $.02 anyway.

Re: Do Cigs have superior resale value?
yes and no... first all boats tank in the first couple of years... but cigs then level off and i some cases if bought right and appreciate, part inflation and part low production # so not as many of the same model year avail at the same time
in 90 a bullet went for 110k today there 50-60... pretty good... kind of like a ferrari... how low can they go, its still a ferrari |

Re: Do Cigs have superior resale value?
don't compare resale to donzi and fountain
compare the resale of donzi, cigarette, and fountain to scarab, formula, baja, sunsation, etc... |

Cigs are like Harleys. They have an aura about them. People love them because they are what they are.
I love my Harley and I love my Bullet! :D |

Re: Do Cigs have superior resale value?
I have made money on all Cigarettes I have owned.
I have lost money on the Fountain I have owned. |
Re: Do Cigs have superior resale value?
The ratio of people actually making money on a boat (besides a dealer) is practically slim to none. I'm not saying it cannot be done, but is truely rare.
