New York DMV
Can anyone tell me aprox. how long it takes once the paperwork is sent from the dealer to the state to recieve the tittle? I bought a Zo6 off a dealer on e-bay, the car had been purchased by someone else, dealer sent paperwork off to the state, two days latter the guy brings it back and trades it back in on a regular vette, Z06 was to much for him, I have been waiting on this dealer to recieve the paperwork back from the state for over 3 weeks, they are telling me that it can take 30-45 days for this from New York DMV, I am about to tell them to stick the deal!! What do you guys know??

Re: New York DMV
Doesnt sound like the DMV, might be the bank if the car was not purchased outright. Or the dealer themselves, title should come immediately from DMV, sometimes the dealers hold the paperwork and will send someone once a week to do all the titles of cars sold.
Where in NY is the dealer located? |
Re: New York DMV
Right noe Titles are running anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months. Gotta love NYS. Oh yea titles cost $50.00 now. Up from $10.00. I wish I could raise my prices that much.

Re: New York DMV
Took me over 60 days to get the title processed on my Cigarette mistress. That 50$ Title fee is just great, let me bendover!

Re: New York DMV
you heard right,4-6 weeks or like said 30-45 days. Just went through the same thing, bought a new chevy duramax w/single rear wheels & decided on the dually 3 days later(that was a costly mistake)...The dealer was explaining how long the title would take to get straightened out...be a lot longer if the dealer drags his feet.

Re: New York DMV
My Donzi title took 8-10weeks in NYS and they got the year wrong. According to the title I have a 1995 Donzi with a HIN that ends in 96. I love clever people.

Re: New York DMV
I'll stick with Delaware, except for title fees  The wifes car was done thru the dealer. 9 days after I gave them the inspection papers, I got the tags and title via FedEx. I did my truck myself. Walked in with the paperwork, out with the tags and title about 30 minutes later.

Re: New York DMV
NYS state DMV SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!
the runaroudn iha don my last race traielr was insane it took 4 months and craploads of legwork on my part to finally get it. NY needed certain letters becaue NJ didn't title commercial trailers when mine was biult. NJ kept telling me that "the reg IS the title" and NYS should accept that. NY kept sayign we need an origonal title. Eventually i had to get the title beaurau in NJ to write a letter on state letterhead and send me signed origonal triplicate copies stating taht NJ doens;t title trailers along with the section of thier code stating they don't. Once NY got that they issue a title. NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

The best ones are the hopped up Camaro and Mustang guys that actually have NO CLUE what just stomped them :evilb: Ate a Targa for lunch on Wednesday and ran neck and neck with a Benz Lorinser CL for about 10 miles on and off after the Targa bought it... no clue what the Lorinser had in it... all emblems were off but I couldnt get rid of him and he couldnt get rid of me:cool: Terrell Butler(CB for the Rams) just bought land from us here and had a black/black Z06. 700 miles on it so he didnt want to run it :drink: but it sounded...and looked....MEAN  I heard from my dealer who also has an E that he stays within 2 car lengths of the new 911 Turbos from a standstill to 120.... havent seen it but thats what he said... 1/2 as much cost, 4 seats and a true sedan... only 2 car lengths is pretty good in my book. |

Re: New York DMV
I didn't read all of the replies, so if you already have your answer you can stop reading now.... Because the car was previously sold that purchaser must call NY DMV and have a rush put on the title because they traded the car back. That should reduce the title from 4 to 6 weeks down to 2 or three. The dealer can then process your paperwork, and you can take delivery of the car. If you are out of NY state you will get an intransit tag, and take the paperwork to your own state, and if you are registering in NY the dealer will register and you will receive a title in 4 to 6 weeks. Good Luck with the car!!!! Let me know if it doesn't work out, I am a wholesale dealer here in NY, and would always help a fellow OSO'er out. It will cost a ride in the car and boat though :D
