Cigarette Suspected in Cruise Ship Fire
 

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica - Fire broke out on a cruise ship in the Caribbean early Thursday, killing one person and injuring 11 others before the crew extinguished the flames, company officials said. A cigarette was suspected of causing the blaze.

Its kinda tough to blame a fire on Fountain. :D :D

Perhaps a tree or forrest fire, but not on a cruise ship. :evilb:

A guy I work w/ was on the ship. He said it was crazy as hell, alarms started going off at 3 in the morn.. They had been to sea for 4 hours (dunno how far out that is). He said when he got to the deck the life boats had been lowered & uncovered. The guy a couple rooms down had a heart attack in the hall trying to get out. Luckily he was on the opposite side of the boat of the fire but he said the hallways were extremely smokey. Another couple they were w/ was on the side of the fire & everything in their room was burnt to a crisp.

yeah... this is a freaking laugh riot.

Is your mom on that ship too?

Fund I hope your mom is ok. I think that while this situation is hitting home obviously for you that the intent of the thread was good. I am sure that had he known that OSOers were effected by this he would have not posted. Frankly I am shoked that OSO'ers are effected. I guess it is a small small world. Maybe 24 skater has a way to help?

Ok... I have chilled....

I have 80 hours in this week and I have 48 to go....
my normally short fuse is microscopic today.

I just found out that she is fine. She just has the same luck with boats that I do!! :D

Didn't mean to jump anybody's chit.... but I guess it is a good reminder that somebody always knows somebody....

Fund - glad to hear your Mom is OK.

I have to admit, I also thought about the idea of Cig vs. Apache vs. Fountain. And it IS funny - at least to us around here.
The fact that this happened to affect "one of our own" hadn't crossed my mind. That suddenly jerks ya back to reality, and then there really isn't anything funny about it.
Anyway, Glad to hear it was no worse than just a ruined Vacation, and I'm sure a scary experience.
