Where should I list my boat???
Its getting warm soon, the boat needs to sell. Where should I list it, other than OSO? Has anyone had success with boattrader?? BTW, OSO definately has the best price on listing...the first site I checked was $100 for one month, compared to $30 for 3 months here, and all the pictures you want...ya can't beat that. I have had enough BS calls, the boat needs to sell. I am thinking if I get enough exposure, someone will actually come and look at it at least. I can't understand why people call, ask 101 questions, which I don't mind asnwering at all, but then I answer them all, and never hear from them again. Why call and ask? Are these people interested or just bored? :D :D I would just leave it on here until the right person comes along, but I have to sell the boat, the new one is here. Any tips, hints, suggestions?

Re: Where should I list my boat???
I have sold two boats on boattrader.com both were in the 70k range...Best results come from accurate information and good pictures and honest disclosures....

Re: Where should I list my boat???
I've had good luck here on OSO. Sold my last 2 boats through the OSO classifieds.

Either place sounds good to me.

Re: Where should I list my boat???
I don't have any suggestions but know what you mean about people calling & asking 100 questions & never calling back. What's up w/all the questions???Do they not know anything about boats???I mean they have to have some clue before they call...if the boat is in e.c. & the ad is detailed well (like mine)then why so many calls w/ no follow up or inspection??? I think you hit the nail on the head...BORED!!! Oh, wait...that's why I'm writing right now...oh no I'm turning into one of them...it's contagious!!!

Re: Where should I list my boat???
GoTime,
The reason you list your boat with a broker is for them to answer the 100 call and answer the 101 questions, For that service you pay him 10% and he pays the advertising and puts it in ALL the right places. A good broker will actually sell the boat! VeeCat |
Re: Where should I list my boat???

Re: Where should I list my boat???
Most brokers are nothing more than thieving liars who do not preform there jobs when called to do so....many leads are destroyed this way......these days you can not afford to lose one single lead....bottom line do it yourself....advertise yourself....

IMO .. Ebay is relatively cheap and exposure is way up there. You don't have to actually complete an Ebay transaction/sale to get a serious buyer out of the money and time spent listing ;) Good luck with the sale ... :drink: |
Re: Where should I list my boat???
i am for oso as these people have a clue.. and serious about performance boating.

Re: Where should I list my boat???
Same situation here. Tried boattrader for 4 months last year. Apprx 60+ emails with a million pics. Not one person even came by to look. Maybe I'm too honest or the boat looks like sh*t . Even tried ebay and was insulted with a $20K offer.

Re: Where should I list my boat???
OSO sold my Sonic in 7 days across the country sight unseen.
I would look into Boat Trader as well as eBay. While you may not sell your boat on the eBay listing, the nationwide masses that you reach, often sells a boat/truck/item afterwards. This has happened a couple times for me. |

Re: Where should I list my boat???
Thanks for the advise, I think I'll try ebay. Probably more exposure there than anywhere. I'm just afraid it won't get to the reserve and then it will be one of those boats that you see on there a bunch times and think there is something wrong with it, but I think the price is fair, and it is negotiable. Ratman let me know how it goes on ebay. Please post a link once its up. Thanks.

Re: Where should I list my boat???
ask buyabeak.com if he would take it to consignment, he knows mad people that are always looking for boats.

Re: Where should I list my boat???
I would go with Boattrader.com and OSO. And from my experience, think of what your bottom dollar is the boat and put it in there just slightly over that - unless you want to keep for a long time.

I know it's no comparison to the requests OSO gets here, and I am not even sure if this is considered decent traffic for a site like mine, but here's the last 3.5 month's results: Month / Number of requests 1. December 2005 11,901 2. January 2006 11,332 3. February 2006 8,208 4. March 2006 6,120 Most active month December 2005 : 11,901 pages sent. Monthly average: 7,545 pages sent. 7,545 requests handled. Either way, you can't beat the price... :drink: |
