Default Anybody Ever Sell A Boat...

Using a partnership financing deal? Got contacted by Brystar marine out of Austin stating they have buyers with bad credit (divorces, medical BK's, etc) but solid employment who can make payments for two years then refi and pay off the note. I get to approve the buyer, they have to maintain full insurance, I can have the boat inspected at any interval (monthly, weekly, daily, etc) by a dealer or marina of my choice, etc.

They say they have been doing this for 18 years and can send me references. I'm still a bit skeptical. What if the buyer dissappears with the boat (they say that has never happened to them). What if the thrash the boat (they say they are insured and will have it repaired).

Anybody ever do a deal like this?

They didn't say they would send a check for more than the payment and you could refund the difference? Sounds like a bad deal to me. Insurance doesn't pay for neglect. You get all of the exposure and don't get your money to go and buy anything else for two years, if you get it. How do they make money on this deal? Do you have to pay them a commission? You should if they are selling it, but not until it is paid for in full. Do they collect from the buyer? Don't even think about it for another minute.

If memory serves me, Brystar has been on this board before and I don't think there was any good press surrounding them . . . I could be wrong, so don't hold me to it, but that's what I think I remember. Try doing a search of the forums using the term Brystar.

I just did a search on Brystar. Nothing good reported.

Think I'll just wait for a good buyer. It's not like I have to sell or anything and the Havasu Desert Storm Poker Run is coming up!
