The time has finally come for Shore.
I'm looking at buying a 88 Chapparal Villian 30' tommorrow afternoon. No more Bayliner jokes please..
Anyways,..You guys fill me in on what to look at on this tub.
Twin 454's/B1's on a triple aluminum..Nice boat good shape and I can afford it outright so i'm gonna bite.
Another issue is my tow vehicle..Umm...yes..Umm...I know it's under-rated ro this wieght but all I have to two with is my 1999 Denali 5.7 ..3:73's and it is 4wd not all-wheel.She runs and shifts well and has zero issue with 4000+lbs of Bayliner BUT I am kinda nervous with the Chappy. I'm estimating 8500lbs on the trailer.
Good news is I live about 2 miles from the ramp with no hills...Maybe a 3-4 trips a year at 50 miles with no hills and good launch ramps at both...I'm gonna go pick her up with my buddy and his F250 SD.The boat is a couple hundred miles away.
Am I gonna kill this thing or anything else even trying to tow this boat?...I'm rather excited so let me know if I am making a bad choice or if these Chappy's are crapp..I won't be pissed if ya tell me to steer clear but i WILL be pissed if you tell me later to avoid it like the plague..

They are nice boats. Is that the Villian II? Welcome back!!
PM Byrdman here on the board. He'll let you know if you're an idiot or not for towing with the Denali!

I know I know..I read that disaster of a thread...But seriously.Am I making a mistake or is this a good damn boat to jump up to..Motors are just over 100hrs and the drives are very nice. They won't trim up but I really can't let that deter me.They trim down but won't button back up.I'm sure I can jump the solenoid and at least get them high enough to bring her home and fiddle.

My bad. I think that the Vilian II is like a 22 footer. I say buy it. It HAS to be better than a Bayliner!

That I will do for sure...This has been on trailer for 2 years...hence the drive/trim issue.
The guys seems straight and seems to just not have time to play with it..he is moving to Tenn and doesn't see dragging it up there so my gain..Any tricks on checking the transom and stringers that I should know?
