#6's to #4's or Bravo's?? Is there a transom plate available??

Hello everyone and how are you. My Fountain used to have twin #6 drives on it... but now it just has two big holes in the transom...

I'd like to install either #4's or maybe Bravo 1 drives... but it's obvious that the bolt patterns are different then the old #6's.

Does anyone make an adaptor plate that bolts onto the transom???? Or maybe I have to have one made?? I am trying to avoid rebuilding the transom and redrilling holes...

Thanks guys and let me know

P.S. also, your thoughts on #4 drives vs Bravo 1??? Advantages? How much power can they take??

no.. your looking at a transom job, stay away from the 4 drive too ... i like something with a trans so i'd see if you can get some konrads , or used set of 3 or 5 drives... there is 3 sets of merc 1000's and 6 drives in the classifieds ...

or surface drives... i'm sure you will get alot of other responses cause people here love spending other peoples money..

either route , you will need to have the transom replaced... adapter plates and 1 off fabrication will cost you more $$$ and frustration than you think imho...

start cutting and grinding...new blank space is always nice....

Sounds good and thanks for the response... Can you give me more info on the #4 drives?... What is wrong with them? Do not hold up under power?...

just outdated...parts are getting scarce for them... bit the bullet and do the transom... you will be happier in the long run.. it will give you sooo many more options when your ready..

I have some two driveline Transome assemblys for #6 drives and one # 6 drive with a 1.5 ratio that are going for sale if you want the big dogs.

And by the way Mercury makes a coversion kit for the older #6 drives to accept the new shaft should you ever have any problems.

What Fountain is this for?

Does Stellings make a conversion box? I know they make a few conversion boxes but I am not sure about #6 to bravo.

1 Attachment(s)
1993 47 Foot Fountain...

Originally it had #6 drives on it but I am open to other options... I will probably not have anymore then 600hp to 800hp per motor so that is what I am sizing my drive off of.

I am NO expert, but I would keep the 6's on that boat. I don't think Bravo1's (maybe XR's??) would even survive on a boat of that size. I would want Konrads at the very least. They seem to make a great product.
