Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
Well we are nearly complete with the details for the launch issue of our new magazine covering powerboat racing all over the world.
However we have come up with an alternative name and would like the feedback from members here. We have two names we cant decide on for the name of the magazine. The first one is Cockpit magazine and the other is called On The Edge. Please vote for the one you think sounds best. Thanks guys and gals, appreciate your input. Cheers Ned P.S. Launch issue will be out at the end of August. |
Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
I can see why you chose the name Cockpit, but in todays world, I am afraid you would be on the bad end of a lot of jokes. :(

Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
cockpit sounds more like an aviation mag
|
Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
IMHO neither one is a good choice. The reason being is that your two suggestions do nothing to indicate what the magazine is about.

Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
What does either name have to do with boating. If I saw only the name of the mag as I was browsing for boat mags, I wouldn't even give it a glance with the names you have listed.
Need a boating related title. |
Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
Don't think I like either name, but I'm not the most creative individual. However, I'm pretty good at printing publications. If you are still shopping printers I'd love the opportunity to win your business.

Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
I would have to agree with all the above startments. I would look at the title sticking out on a mag rack and think flying mag or extreme sports mag, not boat mag.

Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
My vote is for "FAST BOATS AND HOT BABES" :drink:
|
Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
Ned, I have to agree, neither name indicates the content of the mag. What about
Race Water Aqua Race Aqua Edge Liquid Edge Maximum Liquid Radical Water OK, so I'm spouting off here, but just some thoughts. |

i don;t like either one as well. It's not a name that really blends with this sport(my002) but now i do like the one mentioned above :evilb: :drink: Jr Mike |
Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
Personally, I don't like either name. Neither is descriptive enough, and both names could be used for many things. You need the word Boat and/or Race or Racer in there somewhere.
|
Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
PRO-OFFSHORE Racing (and fast babes)
|
Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
:evilb: that's it.............. Wobble your a smart guy

Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
Seriously though, there is way too much British? reserve in the title you have selected. I realize that you are going for the subscription market, but have you seen a magazine rack here in the USA. You have about half a second to grab someones interest.

Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
On the Edge Thats where most powerboats are.. on the edge
|
Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please

|
Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
Wobble is correct except it should be w/naked boat babes. :evilb: :evilb:
|
Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
Call it "Props"
I don't like either of the names you have. |

Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please

Cockpit = The Gay Bar next to the Airport. :D
|
Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
Powerboat Racing International
Extream Marine Water racer International Powerboats WFO! |
Re: Which Name Works for the Mag - Your Vote Please
Your two suggested names didnt work well for me.
The other suggestions of members work better. If you will have the word "Boat" in your title you will have a couple of lawsuits during your first years in order to block you. Allusions might work well. I dont know whether a mags name includes an "offshore" already. Something funny might work like "ramp up offshore" - but I dont know whether it sounds strange or funny to you. If you use "offshore" or any of the members suggestions you might talk before with everybody who has an interest in protecting this term... |
