Default Wide load permit to Havasu Necessary?

I will be towing from SF Bay area for the Havasu Poker run, has anyone ever had a problem without obtaining a wide load permit? I have a Cat that is 10'4" wide, going down I-5 then thru desert, Also is AZ a problem? If so how do I get permits for the trip? Thanks
Also is the trailer parking difficult in Havasu?

Az wont be a problem, Ca maybe, if you dont get permits, dont put up a wide load sign! kind of admitting guilt!Ive pulled a lot of over-width boats from LA to Phx with no problem just dont draw to much attention to yourself like speeding what are you hauling and with what tow rig? Park @ Windsor lots a room!

you can buy an annual permit for calif for only 90.00 so it does not pay to take a chance and ruin your weekend. as for az, going across the 40, I would just drive right by the scall since you are only going 9 miles on the highway before turning south. call me if you need help for a permit and I will steer you in the right direction 909-*********

Make sure you get a permit if needed. California is funny with thier "rules" and points on driver's license for the most ridiculous things. Had a Ca. license & got pulled in the Truckee scales by Reno. 3 points for contaminated brake lining.

bonecrusher, what boat is that? We're all towing down together Wed. So far we have two big cats, a 42 Fountain, and a 42 Advantage. I think the cats are both getting permits but they have to run a chase car.

Lofty, why would you need a chase car unless the boats are over 12' wide? In calif you don't need a pilot car on main highways unless you are over 12' wide. I tow the terrible skater all over calif with no pilot car and it is legal

With a 36' Spectre just hook it up and go. No signs no flags.

We towed our 36' Skater all over CA and all the way to FL without any signage or problems.

Like bgchuby01 said you will not need a pilot car. I have only had to use a pilot car with the 46' Skater in the heart of S.F. and S.J. and I was not suppose to be there in the first place.
