We really do need to all fight these bills, because they will all end up in our own back yards if we don't. I sent an email for you guys - I really hope it helps.

Here is where we are now and it is not pretty. Gov Bob Riley is set to sign the bill Mon or Tues next week. He is a friend of Senator Gerald Dial, the land developer who introduced the bill for another developer, and for Alabama Power Company. The bill will become law next week.We are outgunned and out moneyed. Interesting side note is I talked to the head of the Marine Police yesterday,he is against the bill but has no power to stop it. He has already told his officers to ignore the new bill,it is unenforcable and they have better things to do,something about promoting safe boating on Alabama's waters is more important .Pretty sad,the special interest groups think it is more important to try to push a stupid law than to insure safety. Go figure, not too proud to be a citizen of Alabama tonite.Sorry for the rant,we will survive, but a sad day for Alabama boaters. Peace

If it comes to pass at least we will not have gone down without putting up a fight! What will be next.......pwc, ski boats or even bass boats? So much for the land of the free.

I'm really sorry to hear that, Magic. It's definately a sad shame. It appears that the palms are greased and the decision's already been made.

For the People, by the Corporation.

Done...good luck.

DON'T GIVE UP NOW... Dispite laws taking affect...

Advise: Form a group to fight this. Find something to support like more education or certain no wake zones. Don't just go for a NO. Be seen as a group on the water acting responsible and offer to be involved in supporting the community. Get all the facts and make sure everyone knows you are not going away easily. We did the same thing at SMLPBA and so far were good.

BTW: If this guys does vote this in... make it your objective to get this guy out of office. When are your elections next? Trust me, this guy wants to keep his job.

It comes down to Monday. He can either sign it or not sign it and it becomes law. He has to veto it to kill it. Was told this morning his office is fielding tons of calls from both sides and he hasn't really made up his mind. My gut feeling is he will do nothing and it will becomes law. Then we will see how the marine police react.

I just sent one. I told the Governor not to expect any of my tourism dollars if this bill passes. I also told him Alabama would be known as the ANTI-BOAT state if this bill passes.
