Carbon Fiber Upholstery

I see that many manufacturers are using carbon fiber looking upholstery.
I have not seen it in person as of yet but have just ordered some samples.
Any feedback on it's wear ability and cleaning characteristics?

I used it last year in my Motion rerig. It is not very durable. There is an area that your foot would sometimes rub when boaridng and it wore through immediatly. I am not using any Carbon fiber on my MTI. It does liik beautiful, just not very durable.

I have heard directly from one of the best marine vinyl installers in the industry that it wears faster and is less durable than the standard marine vinyl. Too bad, because it has a nice look to it.

I was at a local vinyl supplier and saw samples of that vinyl, looked very cool. However they also had samples of vinyl that looked like brushed aluminum. I can't wait to see an interior done in that stuff.

Interesting comments. I had heard rumors but hadn't comfirmed that for myself and have recently had some customers that were interested in it. Maybe for accents in areas where they won't be exposed to the wear problems.
Thanks.

That,s exactly where I would use it.

I hope the wear thing is wrong. I just did my seats in sliver carbon fiber fabric. The material looks very heavy to me. So thick they had problems getting it to fit right.

I can confirm it wears very quickly. It is very easy to scratch and scuff too.

Any more input on this topic. I am just about ready to order my vinyl, had originally thought I would do the entire cockpit in carbon fiber, now thinking maybe just doing accents.
