97 baja 240 sport- Thinking of purchasing and need advice

http://www.yachtworld.com/core/listi...14&slim=quick&

I definatly do not like the pink in the graphics. I think I would either switch out the pink swoop to a vynil blue or oarnge overlay or paint the entire hull white. Also, the interior pink in the seats would be switched. I know its a decent amount of work involved but the boat seems to be at a pretty decent price and I think the guy may do $19-20k on it. Is this a good price on the boat? Its the size I'm looking for and has the right lines its a little hard to see past the color scheme but is there anything that is in that size and year range out there that would be a better boat? This is my first real boat purchase (going up from an 18 foot bayliner) Thanks in advance for all replies!

my opinion? It looks clean, but I think you could have an outlaw for similar price, and I think they are more popular and you could sell it back faster than a 240. But that's just my personnal opinion. Anybody else?

where are you boating at
those boats dont handle the rough too good at all and the cuddy is a pain to crawl into

That looks like a 24 Outlaw to me. If so it is worth 20K, my buddy has a 24 OL and changed the nasty pastel paint and it looks great. Handles the waters on Lake Michigan great! Good luck!

Honest opinion, I'd keep looking. How much more life can that motor have with 825 hours? If you buy it for $19K, do some paint and interior work like you said, then have to do a motor, you will end up in it for way more than it will ever be worth.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm in minnesota so I actually prefer something in the midsize area because of trailering and the draft is important on alot of the channels on chains of lakes. There isn't alot around here for boats except for cuddies and small bowriders.

What type of questions should I ask the owner? He said the lower unit was rebuilt last year. I forgot to ask about the hours. Whats alot and whats average on a 97?

That's definitely not a 24 Outlaw with a molded in platform and sit-downs.

Damn I didn't see the hours listed. Whats a typical life on a 454?

I had one of those. In my opinion it was a good boat not the best rough ride but a fun boat to run. I had to put better tabs on it and after that it ran good. A 24 outlaw would be better if you planned on running in bigger water. It is not worth what they are asking maybe more like 15-17 with all the hours.
