What's the Mystery in the oil? :D

Re: Does fogging oil foul spark plugs?
ATF works well too!

Re: Does fogging oil foul spark plugs?
I use mystery oil also ..Occassionaly get a fouled plug or two but for the most part no!
I fog my two stroke outboards as well and those are usually ok in the spring but I usually change em out anyway since its a 2 smoke. But to change em all every spring just in case is a waste IMHO |
Re: Does fogging oil foul spark plugs?
I use ATF or "Fogging Oil" but not the stuff that's in the spray can.

Mercury Marine Fogging Oil is my personal favorite as the chemistry is designed to displace moisture very well. The whole idea of fogging is that it helps protect against rust and corrosion during seasonal storage periods. Helps protect metal surfaces (cylinder walls, pistons, rings, valve guides, and intake system components) against moisture and humidity. Displaces water to help prevent damage from moisture accumulation. Usually 2 ounces is all you would ever use and fouling should be minimal. Often times too much is used and then fouling is a big concern.. I am not one to use ATF for fogging...and would say to stick with a MARINE SPECIFIC fogging oil. Here is what is in ATF fluid... ATF typically contains the following components: Dispersants Sludge & varnish control Antioxidants Prohibit oxidation Antiwear Planetary gear, bushing, thrust washer protection Friction modifier Modify clutch plate and band friction Corrosion inhibitor Prevent corrosion and rust Seal swell agent Prevent loss of fluid via seals Viscosity Improver Reduce rate of change of viscosity |
Re: Does fogging oil foul spark plugs?
CRC makes fogging oil that comes in 5 gallon pails. It smells like Caramel, that's the good stuff..
Personally, I don't like the Aerosol cans. If you're doing anti-freeze and fogging oil at the same time it's a b#TCH. http://www.crcindustries.com/marine/...x?PN=06070&S=Y or, http://www.crcindustries.com/marine/...x?PN=06069&S=Y |
