You taking care of my boat Dave? When can I have it back?

Crazyhorse 04-18-2006 08:35 AM

Re: NEWS FLASH- Crazyhorse

Dave, show up with a bagful of money and I'm sure we can work out something. And dinner will be on me. So, the DJD Navy ain't big enough yet?
Yes, it's got a turbo but it's hardly what you could call a bug. It did kill a lot of bugs on the trip home from North Carolina though.

A few pics of the Freightliner. It's an FLD112, 206" wheelbase single axle w/air ride suspension and cab, Cummins CelectIV 310E w/Rockwell 9-speed transmission, twin Bostrom air-ride seats. And the air conditioning works. Plans include shortening it 39 inches.

Re: NEWS FLASH- Crazyhorse

Crazy Dave took me for a quick ride a week or so ago---kinda fun being way up there. That thing ought to pull his Cig nicely. He shifts those 9 gears like a Pro! :D

Crazyhorse 05-03-2006 10:09 AM

Re: NEWS FLASH- Crazyhorse

Less money than you would think. Under $5K
And I've accumulated around a half million miles in the driver's seat of these trucks over the years so you kinda get good at the shifting thing.

fred 05-03-2006 11:01 AM

Re: NEWS FLASH- Crazyhorse

Crazy, how bad is insurance and plates for one of those?

Crazyhorse 05-03-2006 11:22 AM

Re: NEWS FLASH- Crazyhorse

Plate was $280 per year and insurance is $800 for a full calender year. This particular unit meets the requirements to qualify as a motorhome in Michigan. It's bigger in the sleeper than it looks. I'll post pictures of the inside later.
Unless someone wants to learn or already has the technique of shifting I would advise looking at Allison automatic-equipped units.

fred 05-03-2006 01:08 PM

Re: NEWS FLASH- Crazyhorse

Not Bad......those prices are the as a motorhome registered vehicle?

Crazyhorse 05-03-2006 03:08 PM

Re: NEWS FLASH- Crazyhorse

Yes, but the alternative is registering a unit like that as a commercial vehicle, which means weighted and apportioned plates, fuel use permits for each state the truck will pass through and a CDL in states other than Michigan. Under certain circumstances Michigan law permits the use of a CDL-required truck for personal use without the driver having a CDL.
Fred, call me and we'll discuss the particulars of this application.

Hey...that's pretty heavy David! Like uhhh......where's the tune jammer and speakers in those pictures man??? There's nothin' like smokin' some hooter while listenin' to a little of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon!

Hey, I know a guy who said he must have smoked about 10 pounds alone of Marry J while only listening to the Dark Side of the Moon!-------Now that's really heavy Dad!!! :D

Crazyhorse 05-04-2006 11:44 AM

Re: NEWS FLASH- Crazyhorse

Dark Side of the Moon is good but there are a lot of other dope-smoking groups to listen to, such as;
Yes "Fragile"
Grand Funk Railroad "Closer to Home"
Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina "Full Sail"
Uriah Heep "Sweet Lorraine"
BTO (Bachmann Turner Overdrive) "Not Fragile"
Moody Blues- any of them, especially "Timothy Leary"
the list goes on forever
