Sounds like a great idea to me John! Although, with the short summers and all the other boating events going on I think it would be a hit or miss event with a lot of us---including me. We could just pick one day out of the weekend (probably in August) and keep it light & simple----maybe the "sand bar" on Torch would be the main focal point or rendezvous.

If the water conditions are pretty much calm out on Grand Traverse Bay, then one day out of the weekend I would like launching from Elk Rapids and boating around the bay area---especially by Marion/Power Island.

In other words, one day on Torch and the other out on Grand Traverse Bay water conditions permiting. Otherwise, I would probably spend both days on Torch Lake.

Just thought I would also post some shots of Bay Harbor I took a couple years ago. Clarity of the shots may not be all that clear. Also, I cannot get the right angle or a shot that's good enough to do Bay Harbor any justice. You have to experience it in person. It is a beautiful harbor!

Harbor Springs is just another beautiful spot in Petosky's northern bay area. Here's a shot of one of Harbor Springs' boat launches. This is the city launch and I cannot remember the name of it.

The dock is usually very long, but somehow the dock at the launch had been damaged and much of it had to be removed and you can see it sitting on the turf in the back ground of the shot. Otherwise, I am sure it could accomodate even a 47 footer. This shot was taken 2 years ago so, I am quite sure it has been restored/repaired.

A few more shots...

1) Charlevoix's city launch ramp

2) Pull your boat up and eat at the Landing's restuarant located at the beginning of Lake Charlevoix's south arm

3) Another view of the Landing's restaurant from the docks

I had an Unlimited 191 last summer and I picked up a Pantera 24 this last winter.

I do boat on Caddy and Mitchell once in awhile. They are dirty lakes but better than nothing considering I can be on them in under 5 minutes.

I only have one pic on this computer of Torch. I'll post some more tomorrow. Water isn't very blue, is it? :D

Scott..
Can't wait to see the new Pantera:drink: Gotta admit the unlimited was a blast to watch though:D See ya soon

Josh, I can't wait to head up to Torch! I've had the Pantera out a couple times here locally for a few minutes to make sure everything was okay. I'm definitely excited to get it in the Bay when it's rough to see what it can do. :evilb:

But, I have to admit I'm going to miss the Unlimited. The fun factor on that boat was through the roof!!! :D And it definitley held it's own(and then some) for a small boat. I don't know how many times I heard "What the f**k is that thing?" after a 5 minute wide-open run next to a 28 footer in the slop! :D

Well I can come down to Torch any weekend except for the Boyne Thunder weekend (July14th-15th) and the Northern Michigan Fun Run Weekend. So who ever is interested post the dates that they have open and maybe we can find a weekend that we all have open. :drink:

Hey Wrink, we could shoehorn that big Nortec into Torch Lake for one day, I know it would only take 5 min. to go around the lake and back to the sand bar. Wait... on 2nd thought... don't bring it...because all the 1/2 naked girls that party down there would be over there wanting to check it out

Torch in Aug. here. Warmer water...gotta keep it workin a few more years .. :evilb: A Nortech on Torch - wild! It's 15 miles long isn't it?

Some more pics of Bay Harbor. Like Kamma said cool place. Think the dev. is about 5 miles long... lots of candy.

We stayed there in the fall - thought a room would be a gulper but not bad. Best deal is to stay at what they call the Yacht Club bldg. - its behind the village - can't see it in my pics but you can in Kammas. We had a 4th floor "parlor" room. 2 huge baths, hardwood floors, full granite kitchen, fireplace, etc... just like a little home. 320.00 for the weekend. Enough shops to keep the girl's busy - but not too busy... Had a Hinckly Yacht dealer in there too. What Knots-
great bar to watch action from. Nice spot.

Here is a Pic. of a 165mph Skater that is kept on Torch.
Chris said the DNR don't chase him, when he bought the boat he just took some self addressed stamped envelopes to the DNR to make it easy for them :evilb: The photo was taking during Boyne Thunder

I probably won't make to the poker run, but I am definately coming up this summer for a small vacation. Summer is short with too many conflicting weekends.

More of Bay Harbor...

1) Here's a picture of one of the hotels at Bay Harbor. It looks cool with the flags.....but I don't know which hotel it is-----maybe one of you other guys will recognize it.

2) Boat launching ramp....the Harbor Master seems to be pretty picky about who uses it. My take on it is that he doesn't want one of them ol' Festus kind of fellers comin' to the launch with his galvanized warsh tub fishin' boat complete with a tornady strapped own the rear.

3) Another angle of the launching ramp with buildings in the background.

And still a few more of Bay Harbor. I heard Mel Gibson has come here as well as several other big Hollywood stars.

1) Just another shot of the docking area

2) One of the many nice yachts moored at one of Bay Harbor's docks

3) A close up shot---wished it were mine

Oh c'mon Trace....all you have to do is drive around my ol' cream puff puddle jumper with your new bad arss Nortech----noise problem solved!!! :)

Besides, I like hanging back with my slower buds like ol' dandy "Dyno" Don. My engines can do a 1000rpm less than his and still do the same speed as his boat! :D

Aerial stock shot of Torch - prob early aug over there.

Anyone ever put in at Arcadia Lake? So many spots to get to....

Congrats on the Baha John - lotta room!

Bay Harbor & the surrounding area is still just incredably beautiful. Was up there last summer for the first time in years. Hard to believe Bay Harbor used to be an old abandoned rock quarry. Ed

You will get a place to dock, dinner at Garretts Friday night, lunch at Bay Harbor and dinner and a party back at Boyne City Marina Saterday night (all free) with all of the poker runners. Thanks, JB
