Boat Wax

Has anyone ever heard of Collonite fiberglas wax? Anyone used it? Anyone selling it?

Sammy 02-03-2002 08:37 AM

I have used it with good results although I found it was hard to remove. I think this product needs to be used in small sections unlike others I have used. You can get it at Boat U.S. and West Marine.

Dolphinite T-Wax is about the best I've used-easy on and off.

Lutz, I have used Collinite for years. They make an excellent cleaner also. It requires a little effort to remove but it seems to last a lot longer than any other wax I`ve tried.

How does this stuff stack-up against Liquid Glass? I switched to L.G. mid season last year, and it seemed to help reduce the tea-cup stain from the brackish water - I still need to wash the boat when I get home, or at least by the next morning - but when I wash it, there is little or no stain left. Seems to last for quite a while. I put 3 coats on.

If you use Malco wash n' wax, you don't need to wax, puts on a thin coat every time you wash the boat, sounds like a gimmick, but everyone I've given a bottle to always wants more, but i think you might have to go to a car dealership to get it(my wife gets it for me)

Hey Kevin,

Gordo ran a fire call over at John and Cindy's the other day. It was a dryer vent only though. A neighbor called it in right after they turned the power back on and Cindy did some laundry.

hey kook you had pretty good luck with the liquid glass and the bay stain? i will have to give it a try. how many coats did you start with and how often do you reapply? a couple of times last year after inner harbor trips i had to use on/off to get the racing stripe off. does the liquid glass help to make the racing stripe come of easier??
