I need insurance for cat

Progressive said no, AAA said no and its a deck boat with only a 496 HO what gives. I think its because its suppose to do 70 or 75. Any ideas. I'm supposed to pick this toy up tomorrow.

With out knowing where you are call Bob Luellen, Worldwide Marine. PM me if you cant search his number. Depending on what state you are in there might be other options.

For Progressive the HO = NO GO! They won't insure anything with more than 415 HP per motor no matter what the size. They have a question on their applications that ask if > 415 HP, if you answer yes they don't insure it. Note this question is per motor not total HP. I called the 800 # and the moron asking the questions disagreed on the per motor vs. total HP question and said they wouldn't insure my twin 6.2 boat since it was 640 HP (320 X 2 motors). I got through to a supervisor that understood the question correctly in reference to per motor > 415 HP.
If you redo the application and say it is a 496 Mag (non HO 375 HP) I bet Progressive will write the policy.

I just had the same problem last week looking for insurance for a 47 Fountain.Nobody liked the speed of the boat and that I am in Florida Call. Alliance Marine 1-800-441-7755 and speak to John Campbell tell him Mike from Apollo Beach sent you. Total Dollar would not insure the boat and worldwide never got back to me with a quote. John from Total Dollar referred me to Alliance. Mike

Where did you find this?

Their cutoff is at 75mph and 500hp per side:

NO, NO, NO!!! DON'T LIE ON THE APPLICATION. Don't take this advise. If you lie on the application and have a claim, they could refuse to pay your claim and then you'd be screwed.
If a 100+mph cat can get insurance, so can you. Just find the right carrier.

Cig,

Go online and try to get a quote for a 1,000 HP 32/33/35 ft boat. You will get this response:
I think the 500 HP per side is for like a 42 Fountain= TOO SLOW in this boat. The 500 HP is not a blanket qualification. I tried to get a sample quote for a 32 Lavey Craft with 496 HO's and they kicked back this response:

Semper, I agreed with your statement 100%. That 50 HP ommission( 496 vs 496 HO) could be real hairy in a claim situtation. I was just trying to show him that the boat being a cat wasn't the problem, the HO motor was.

Okay, makes sense. I guess that's where the 75 mph rule comes into play, whichever comes first.

Thanks. :)
