Does this show compare,in size, to the Detroit show?

IMO, Not quite as good as last year, (not as many offshore performance stuff), but a really good show none the less. Hell, the National Marine booth alone is worth the money.

In the right hand corner of the IX Center they have a canvas display set up to look like the roundhouse. They sometimes have entertainment and some tabels and chairs to set at. It's basically a place to meet and socialize because it is nothing like the real one. They should at least serve the beer in RED cups so when you get drunk you can place them on top of your head! :p
