Just curious how to get the best 0 to 60 times. Don't feel like buying a set of rear tires finding out on my own.

We don't own 1 YET, BUT we looked @ 2000 Silver GTS earlier this year, it had 14,000 miles and was a CREAMPUFF. It was a toy for the local Dodge dealer, but I did notice that the tires were REALLY chewed up, so I guess either he horsed it pretty hard, or all that HP just eats tires! :D The $ was 59,995, which isn't a bad deal as far as I can research, but I really want the Shelby Blue paint/white stripes job, and I don't know if GTS comes in that color option.
Anyway, nice car, enjoy. :D

Well I was gonna post this earlier, but I figured you'd get an answer by now, but I see only smartass answers are coming forward :D , but a friend of mine has a 96 gts and he's a maniac with it, I'll ask him tonight whar the best launch rpm's are. From what I remember they are pretty low, otherwise it's up in smoke if too high. I'll get back with his answer tomorrow, He hasn't answered his phone yet today. He probably thinks I'll be bugging him to drive it like usual...

Car and Driver magazine tested one a while back. If I remember correctly, they said launch at 1500 RPM's. Any higher, and they just sit there and spin. Lower and it bogs. Then, they said you have to "backpeddle", as if you give it full gas, the tires will break loose again.

I drove one once. Didn't really worry about the tires, as it wasn't my car. WOW. Total blast to drive. I think it did 110 MPH or so in third gear.

Have you guys seen the new V-3? I think they call it a 2003 model. Give me V-1 and V-2 all day long, The new one looks like a Camaro in pictures.

Vipers are nice I prefer my 92 TA though.

I don't have the advise for you but do have a screwed up story.

A good friend of mine has a henessy(spelling?) viper and took it to the local dealer for service. The frickin mechanic took it out and looped it in a turn!!! :eek: hit the curb sideways and took off the rear wheel!! Also bent the frame. They told my friend they would fix it. When he went to pick it up when it was done being fixed the door wouldnt close properly. He drove it a little bit and the roof had a crack in it near the passenger A pillar!! Now the insurance is going to pay it off and total it. So he's out thrashing on it, doing donuts and **** in it! :rolleyes: Frickin Dodge dealers working on a suposed top of the line sports car!? I never understood that.

Don't own one but I did smoke one once in my 930t slantnose. The new one is due out soon and looks very nice.

Launch it at 2 to 2500 rpms. You will get to 60 in 4.3. 4.2 with the gts-r. you must speed shift to obtane these numbers. The new Z-06 Corvette is just slightly quicker by about a 1/4 of a car we were turning 4.1 to 4.2 same method with a brand new vehicle, could not quite get 4.0 as advertised. Still in quarter we consistently got 12.4 which was slightly quicker than the my buddies Vyper. It helps when they own a dealership and can take a demo out to the strip on wed. nights :D

We have owned and raced 3 vipers over the years (1994-1996-2001) and I would launch at about 1700 rpms, and ran the 1/4 in about 11.7 stock on a good day P.S. thats with the air off Rick Pair-a-racing

I suspect the Civic ran more nitrous on that run than fuel :D He probably also burned about 1/8" of piston top off :eek:
