Well, I've been on this board for a year now with the intention of purchasing a boat about this time this year.

The thing that was going to afford me the purchase is the same thing that's keeping me from it. Last year I started a home based design/drafting business providing services to cast stone manufacturers. I am a structural engineer in my regular day job. I set up the home business with the intent of having some extra income to buy toys.

This business has now grown to where it can no longer be managed as a part time deal. Today I've put my notice in at my employer and will be 100% self employed as of the 12th.

I am happy about it to be sure, but it is a bit of a double edged sword as well. As many of you are self employed, you know the uneasy feeling of going out on your own for the first time. What this means is, no major purchases. Well, at least for now anyway! I'm hoping that over the next year the business will continue to grow as it has. If that's the case, lookout for next season, cause I'll be floating!

With that said, any E-Dockers need a boat whore and his wife hanging around?! I can pay for some gas and buy some beer!

Sorry if this isn't considered boating related! Move it if need be!

Thanks for the well wishes. I'll need all the good luck I can get! And yes, the lake isn't going anywhere. I still don't consider myself old yet either at 35 (almost 35 anyway). There is still time to enjoy the fruits of my labor in the coming years. Really, life is pretty good for me. If the worst thing that happens to me this year is not getting a boat, I think I'll be in pretty good shape!
