City of Miamuh says their engineers condemmed it after Adrew.. Another independant study was done, said it was fine.. IMO the city wants it torn down and another Bayside built there to bump the tax base.. What a crime..

Looks like it was a cool looking place at one time. When is it being torn down? Where is it located in Miami?

It's on Virginia Key, after you come off the Rickenbacker Causeway turn left where you would go to the Rusty Pelican you can't miss it. It's very creepy looking now that they've let it sit for 15 years.

Rent 'Clambake' and you can watch Elvis and Bill Bixby racing there. No kidding.

Re: Miami Marine Stadium

It is a shame a big shame. That stadium has a lot of history behind it. Many of the hydroplane world record are held there. I remember as a youngen going there to watch Miss Budweiser, Castrol and so on. The sad part about it is that it been abandon and it's located in one of Miami's most elite area. I didn't know that they wanted to do another bayside. I don't think that will happen. First because the city of Key Biscayne won't want that there and second there's not enough space there

You can watch it for free under free movies on demand
I went to a few unlimited and skiff races there in the 80's, awesome spot, what a shame

Surprised the transients haven't moved in and turned it into a condo for the homeless...It is a shame though, I went there as a kid to see my first boat race with my dad in the mid 60s.

Re: Miami Marine Stadium

I was there last year and saw it all abandoned and wondered what the deal was.Very sad to see it the way it is and think that it may be torn down.I went to the hydro and skiff races a couple times when i first moved to
florida and it was the coolest event I have ever been to.Grandstand seats and watching old Allison powered hydro and the crazy jersey skiffs was just awesome.
On a side note i was at the RUSTY PELICAN around the corner and looking out onto the bay while having a drink and the view looked familiar ,kinda like the yacht club from CADDYSHACK that i had watched the night before,Am i correct on this?

Wow. That is a shame. Looks like it was a hell of a cool place to watch some racing back in its heyday. :(

Funny, about that same time, there was a great Jet Ski rental just to the West of it, good calm waters.

Brings back memories. We raced OPC in the early 70's,it was my favorite course .Professionally laid out, seats like a football staduim. It was the scene of one of the wildest crash scenes ever when Reggie and 4 other tunnels went airborne on the front straightaway. I watched it from the stands. Maybe someone will post that famous photo. :p

Re: Miami Marine Stadium

The races there were always fun. I used to volunteer as crash boat every race in my little center console, saw some awesome racing! The closed end was the birthplace of rubbing, which Nascar has copied now...

Skied my brains out there when there werent any races, used to regularly throw out the folks who didnt know better with a fake "letter of authorization" allowing us to use the place for "ski testing" :D :drink: :D

You will laugh your azz off, it is one of the funniest movies ever made.
However, do not make the mistake of going back to rent Caddyshack II. It is without a doubt, one of the worst sequels ever made.
