Expired Flares
How do you get rid of them? Hopefully have the real way and your funny ways
|
Re: Expired Flares
4th of July's coming up. :D :drink:

Re: Expired Flares
we shot off a few on a camping trip.....they were about 3 yrs old.....only went about 40' in the air....came down and started a small brush fire when it hit ground and kept burning!!
But the Power Squadron and coat guyard have a day during the year where you can go down to the lake and blow them all off....while supervised ofcourse.....or i hear just saoking them in water will kill them nicely to just throw away.... |

Re: Expired Flares
I am pretty sure you can drop them off at the Coast Guard station in your area and they will use them in field training exercises.
|
Re: Expired Flares
Light it and throw it in the water, it's pretty cool.
Make sure you have a few beers first though. :drink: |
Re: Expired Flares
I use them for setting my pasture on fire, just ask my wife... :evilb:
|
Re: Expired Flares
Local fire department will accept them.
Just don't walk into the fire station with them in your hands. |
Re: Expired Flares
Take them to your local Fire Station, or Coast Guard Station.
Don't practice with them please. |

Hows the Stryker running? |
Re: Expired Flares
Hang on to them. Chances are they will still work so you can use them in an emergency.
Make sure you keep at least 3 that are not expired. |

Re: Expired Flares
Mark, no boat was in the pasture but lots of nice dry grass. Honey was NOT amused! :D
The Stryker is fantastic! Rides like a limo! I had to buy a new truck to pull it though! Got me a 4wd dually Dodge... |

Re: Expired Flares
I like to wrap them in duct tape and go to the bank..................................
|
Re: Expired Flares
Or tape a buncha wires to em and put them in your carry-on bags at the airport.
The TSA will dispose of them for you. |
Re: Expired Flares
You can keep expired flares on the boat as extras with no problem. In fact the CG auxillary guys thought it was fine. I did give some of mine to them for practice, they were happy to get them.
|
Re: Expired Flares
I chuck them in the truck of the car or back seat of the truck. If anybody ever rear ends me, I know help will be on the way. Flares are frequently needed at crashes too. I wouldnt keep any expired star shells in there though.
