New 575sci/XR in my 26ft. Scarab but no prop...any suggestions?
Hi guys, my 1998 Scarab 26 repower project is nearing completion and it's time to buy a prop. but I'm not sure where to start. What would you guys go with? The boat is about 4800 pounds and has a new 575sci with a Teague chip and pulley which puts it at about 610 h.p., I value acceceration more than top speed but don't want it to bite so hard that I ruin my drive. Thanks for any help!!

I ran a 26 4 blade Bravo on my 29 beak with a 525 EFI and XR drive. That one gave me great low and mid and the 28 4 blader gave me much better high mid range and top end. Cruise speed was higher with the 28. You should be in the 28 or 30 pitch class.... IMO

I would say the chances are preatty good that you will end up having to lab finish a prop to get your performance completley dialed in. Try a few different props out and get the most pitch your motor can turn, and then lab the thing.

How did you get hydraulic sterring on that boat? I used to own a 98 26 Scarab and it looked pretty involved compared to a normal boat with stringers. Also what engine bracket mounting did you use?
I'd say a 4 blade Bravo 1 26 or 28 labbed.

I had a 26' Scarab with a 525 SC. I was running a lab finished 26 pitch Merc prop. I had a 1:50 ratio Bravo One drive and it was a perfect set-up for that boat. I assume you have a 1:36 ratio and with the H.P. you have I would guess a minimum labbed 28 pitch Merc prop. I messed with other brand props but the Merc four blades worked best on mine. My boat ran good but yours is gonna be a fricking rocket!!!! Your gonna love it!!! Post pics & numbers when you get them. Good Luck!!!

I've got a 97 with a 540 that I'm guessing puts out around 650hp. what worked the best for me was a labbed 26 Bravo 1, I do spin the motor up to around 5800 though.
Adding the Hyd. steering wasn't too bad at all, we didn' t have to cut into the liner.....it was close though.
since an offshore mount is pretty much impossible on this boat (without cutting out the liner) I made up some solid aluminum blocks for mounts and these are thru bolted into the original mounting pads.
