High Torque Marine HTM

Just curious to see if people other than the west coast are familiar with the HTM brand of boats and do you think that they would sell for the lakes in the middle of the country and the east coast. I am looking to market their products other than california.

There are a handful in the Mid-Atlantic. Most of the folks in the know; know who/what they are. There is an SR24 here in VA that I have personally seen over run 132 mph at a radar shootout a couple years ago.

They build a 30' twin engine model as well. Unfortunately it was the demise of the founder of the company. :(

My good friend has a 24 HTM in Columbus, Ohio. He has no complaints about it just I think he is ready to move up to something bigger. It has a hp500 with a bravo 1.

I would be intrested in a 30 with twins. I would be intrested in the cabin layout and cockpit. Also performance with 496HO Mags and 525 HP's. Joe Murray

There is a market for Cats in the Midwest. The great lakes and lots of inland lakes to boat on. I actually recently looked into a SR 24. I am ready for a cat, but not ready to lose that much cabin space. BTW, the HTM has great cabin space for a cat, just not enough for the women and a newborn. Insurance is probably the main set back for most cat newbies.

kchotboat alot of people know me on this board andknow that I do not pull punches. I will state the facts right or wrong. I have been on the phone with Lia every day concerning your complaint. As we all know there are three sides to every story, yours, Lia's and the truth. If you want to make up things of how this was handled that is your right. But let me tell you that after I research this and find out different then, there is a problem. She tells me she has plenty of backup notes and copies of emails between you and her. She has asked you for copies of vin numbers and outdrive numbers yet you never gave them to her. you never gave her a copy of your original dealer agreement to purchase the boat. I am trying to represent HTM in selling their boats across the country for them. If your negative comments hold no merritt then you and me have to fix that. Also it has been one week since I started this post and you still have not called my phone even though I have asked you to repeatedly on this site and speedwake. ???

I gave her a copy of everything she asked but the engine vin which I no longer have since it has been replaced. I will give you a call and see what happens.

The owner of HTM was killed along with a one or two other passengers in a blow-over.

Not exactly correct. More of a spin out caused by a blown out Bravo style drive/gimble while trying to crack 150 mph (read high horsepower) in a 30'er with twins with no interior in the boat, no safey gear and no rescue crew. Took 3 others with him when he went. Bad deal all the way around, yet totally preventable. I'll just go ahead and stop right there.

I thought it was a blow-over. I stand corrected.

Re: High Torque Marine HTM

The spin out was caused by a bad steering wheel assembly. Not because of the speed

Blame it on what you want but the whole thing was preventable. The threads can still be found over on Hotboat where they were bragging about the speeds they were going for the day before the wreck (150 mph but ran out of prop) and how they were going back out the next day to try again and a few people even pointed out the potential of a bad ending but ego got in the way apparently. Totally preventable. :(

Re: High Torque Marine HTM

Here are a few threads:

This one has alot of the end posts deleted after the news of the crash was posted. 149.999 mph on a lake with a 35 mph speed limit???

http://www2.hotboat.com/forums/showt...4&page=1&pp=25

http://www2.hotboat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11231

Normally I wouldn't say anything, but when "speed wasn't a factor" is pointed out, I'd tend to disagree. TOTALLY PREVENTABLE and from everything I've read the drive/gimble was being blamed for the hook and roll, not a bad steering wheel. Something about a Bravo not holding up to 1,000 or so HP comes to mind.

I'm done here now before I get accused of being an HTM hater.

You should have an email with the totals of the amount I have spent to date to get the boat up to specs. There is no pad in the total amount. I also included the numbers of the shops which are Advance Canvas and Lighting Performance at LOTO and you can check with members on OSO about them. I will wait and see what you can do.

the driver steve that flipped the boat at loto was a 20 year old kid who had never been in an HTM before or had never run one at speed. The boat was owned by a relative who asked steve to drive the boat for the shootout.
