Original Miami Vice question.

I was watching a TiVo'd episode from the marathon last week; 'Payback' which had some Scarab KV footage... and I got to wondering:

The pilot episode used Don Johnson's personal Chris Craft Stinger. I am pretty sure this is fact, right?

How did Scarab get to be the highlight boat? Who came to who? Don Aronow was a visionary and I am sure he could have seen the promise in providing product support to the show. How come he was not involved directly with one of his era companies?

Wellcraft gave them the Scarabs to use. There were two I know of, one of them that Don Johnson used personally had a silver radar arch. They were stored at Doller Marine when they were on Ives Dairy road.

In the first season Chris Craft supplied the boat. Then the writers kept mentioning "cigarette" boats and CC got pissed. So they pulled their support and the producers simply went out and found another company willing to give up some boats. I'm pretty sure Wellcraft and Endeavor were owned by the same company and the sailboat is an Endeavor. But they also made sure to call it "Scarab" from then on.

Damn, someone old enough besides me that remembers that kind of stuff(and cared enought to remember)..I was always just told that I was anal and who cared. lol

And for trivia's sake, does anyone remember the MV where Crockett and Tubbs were in an Action Marine 17ft with an outboard going under the residentual bridges chasing a Bayliner, and when they showed a shot supposedly from the cockpit the shot was from the cockpit of the Chris Craft?

I just watched that episode a couple days ago, but I do not remember a CC cockpit shot. The Bayliner they were chasing did end up on the street and it had an OB. It also sounded like an OB. The little OB that C&T were in was overdubbed with BBC and that is what sounded goofy.
