SL44 ( Aluminum Prototype) Running Pic

1 Attachment(s)
Here is a pic from Havasu ,will have more when I can resize them as the cd I have the pics are 4-5 mg. The boat ran great a few bugs but not anything serious. It would cruise at 100 mph at 5200 rpm which really suprized me. The certified weight with no fuel is 7450 lbs for a 44 ft boat with a 42 ft hull fully rigged. Started having more transome lift over 100 mph that I wanted so am working with arneson on it and will be at his shop next week to correct. Was using Merc 4 blade labbe by Bronson Hill 28 x 16.25 , tried a pair of 29's but lifted the transome evem more. Made a mess of the bildge as I had not tigned a couple lines but no damage except my pride. Wii post some more pics soon. Thanks Wayne

You have to be pleased with 100 MPH at 5200 in my opinion.

Good luck and keep us posted on the final results as you dail her in.

We got a good running shot of that boat as we passed you :drink:

It was good talking to you before you launched. I'll be up at Riks shop to pick up some props this Friday so I might see you there.

If you're eyes weren't swelled up from FL swamp bugs and carousing till the sun comes up, maybe you would have read the first post :p

( by the way, did you get the jacket out??? :evilb: :evilb: )

Bill, I think once you throw a 1/2 canopy on these boats, they all start to look alike. This 44 does have a nice flat deck, but I'm more a fan of a flat transom.

BTW, you ever sell your 42X w/ 600s?

I thought the copy thing was already put to bed...and the steps were different....this own guys design....if it puts up with wave pounding..and can fly straight....then this shop welder is the man......so far he is looking rather well....I bet ya this guy could pop out a monster of length....faster that anybody......just a little blue collar guy :D

The 10% is the part that keeps it from falling apart.

Craig,
I have seen props get dinged/damaged from "road debris" while towing. It is extremely rare, but it does happen. I tow with the props on also, but I put the prop covers on to protect them and they stay on while towing.
