guys its people like this that give us a bad name, My #1 rule is the boat gets returned to the customer as clean if not cleaner then when we recived it to work on, as I said earlier I HAVE fired guys for not keeping a boat clean, I dont care if its greasy hand print foot print ect there is absolutly no excuse,

I know that if one of my guys left a mess I would want to know about it, If you dont tell me I cant do any thing to correct the problem!!!!!

When I rack stored the Cig the seats were always covered with towels or sheets.

These guys always removed their shoes but there was still enough residual grime from being in storage to leave marks.

No winning in rack storage. I hate to say this but you will eventually be the recipient of some fork rash. Then you will really be upset.

I feel for you man. I used to let the marina do the small jobs, filters, and minor mechanic work. You know keeping the locals in work and besides when I got to the lake I was ready to boat. Well Every week I would clean and shine my boat and when I would get back it was dirty, oil stained carpet, oily bilge kinda just traashed out. The last straw was I found cut hose clamps tossed in the bilge. Went to the mgr told him and now I do everything, I mean everything. I could care less if the local marinas have work.

This is like turning in the crack dealer on your street but being afraid of the repercussions. Do it anyway, the manager needs to know, if for nothing that if there is a tear in the seat or a stain from oil they stepped in, he will be paying for it. You can say it nicely and the manager does not have to single anyone out, just a general policy that shoes come off or you step on towels provided....a good idea in any case.

That is riduculous. Obviously these guys have no clue!!!! I would be pissed. Anybody who isn't a dumb A$$ knows to take off their shoes. I would talk to the MGR and get it handled ASAP!

Shoes off is not always the answer, for dockhands moving boats it is ok but when a mechanic is working in an engine compartment it's not always practical to remove his shoes, nor is it safe. But no one should ever step on seats with shoes. I always cover seats and carpet before entering someone's boat. It only takes a minute to lay towels or drop cloths out, it can take hours to remove stains on upolstery. Usually dock hands are just kids who really don't know better, its the marina's job to educate their employees about this.

Hey CB,
Anytime I have the boat in for service or the stereo shop etc, I drop bpth bolsters and tuck a towel all around the back seat cushion, seems to help. Mash is right, no one else will ever care for your boat like you do.
