SHOOTOUT fun run-LOTO

We are again already planning for the Friday shootout fun run, last year we had over 150 boats, expecting many more this year, wanted to know if everyone whoparticipated last year thought we had a good set up with Big Dicks , the buffet, drink specials, BJ has already ask us to start working on this so we can have an awesome time, We are working on some additional things this year to enhance the experience for everyone. any ideas appreciated. again the run will be sponsored by Budweiser and all proceeds will go to the lake firefighters. what does everyone think about multiple stops this year. We are planning on meeting at Horney Toad/ Gator flats cove, running to Dog days either on way or back from Big Dicks then back to Gator Flats for live band, Hopefully Ralph Butler or equal band with drink and food specials. need all ideas, thanks Jim midwest performance marine/LOTO powerboat club/ , Blue Moon Marina will be providing fuel discounts this year for all participants.

Looking forward to whatever you come up with. I've always loved that run. Probably my favorite part of the weekend actually. It's one of the only times that everyone is together at one time.

Re: SHOOTOUT fun run-LOTO

Just make sure that each run between stops is worth the ride. If they are short runs it's not worth my time to stop and tie up every few miles. That happened two years ago shootout weekend poker run. big dicks to hooligan bay, to tequilaville, to captains galley, to the fish. It took longer to tie up and untie than it took to go from captains galley to the fish.

I think at least 10 to 15 miles between each stop would be nice.

Jim could you post some pictures of the Blue Moon/supercat cove project? I haven't made it to the lake yet this year and would like to see what you've done with the place.

We Have About 4 Boats Down For The Shootout. I Am Sure At Least 2 Will Do The Run. Awesome Time And The Best Event To See The Coolest Boats From All Over The Country. We Missed Out Last Year Due To Small Mishap But Have Ran The Event For Years. Looking Forward To It. The Past Has Always Been A Tell-tale For Me That Someone Can Always Build A Faster Boat Because There Was Some Monster Power There.

Re: SHOOTOUT fun run-LOTO

WE ARE GOING TO give fuel discounts to all participants, we will also have a high octane race fuel tanker available at the service dock for all who require it, please start putting inyour requests so we can set everything up to make the run a great time for a great charity. I'll post a entry form soon to download and send in pre enrollment we will also allow entry up to 250 boats until the am of the run at the start, wiggler

wiggler,

Are you looking for each boat owner to enter their boat and number of passengers for a head count? Or are you looking for an entry fee along with enrollment form?

entry fee will cover the buffet, drink tickets, t shirts, and approx 50$ for the charity, thinking 100-125$ per boat with 2 and extra 30$ for each additional passenger, but will keep everyone updated, we also are trying to plan another fun run in august, called Dog Days of summer fun run, obviously held at dog days and thinking of maybe a putting contest at each stop for the prize money instead of a poker hand, just something different, spoke with Mark the owner and he said lets do it, dates to follo.

Why can't we just do it like it has been in the past. Just show up and run, everyone takes care of their own tabs. Seems simple enough and has worked great in the past. Don't worry about the shirts, E-Dock will be GIVING those away. :evilb: :drink:

Agreed. This was started by OSO members as a meet and greet / fun run. Sounds like its trying to become something else. :(

I agree. The original run set up by Troutly and Co. always worked perfect. Show up at a certain time and go. Pay your own way and order what YOU want to eat. Not some buffet and drink ticket thing.

Re: SHOOTOUT fun run-LOTO

There were a few of us that put together this run several years ago as a simple lunch run....I myself could never get my boat to make it all the way to Big Dick's. Sometimes organization causes confusion.....

Frequency 05-22-2006 10:07 AM

Re: SHOOTOUT fun run-LOTO

I agree as well. It was a nice sized group. Run together, eat together. Last year it was tough to get a seat and the crowd made it hard to meet up with people we know. I think we'll hang around the Osage Beach bars this year.

JBK - I know what you mean. My boats always got me to Big Dicks. Just wasn't sure if they would get me back!

We are planning to bring the AMT out this year.
Ill keep an eye on this post to try and figure the best time to be there. Maybe a Thurday to Tuesday deal with a whole lot of haulin on the ends. I think it will be about a 1700 mile each way haul for us.

Smitty 05-22-2006 11:14 AM

Re: SHOOTOUT fun run-LOTO

I'm with Frequency on this one. With the cost of fuel and the distance to Big Dick's and the crowds, I think maybe a shorter run to Toad cove or something like that may be in order.

Also have to agree that this was always just a casual run and now I think it is getting a little to big for the facility at Big Dick's and as JBK stated the "organization/expectations will make it a less than memorable deal.

I go to LOTO to chill out and have fun. I am going to make sure it stays that way !!! :D :D :drink: :drink:

Re: SHOOTOUT fun run-LOTO

that sounds ok to me, Agreed the OSo run is a casual just show up run, frankie and louies just asked last year to have us hook up with them, so I say the old Troutly meet and go is fine, do you guys just want to meet at DOG DAYS and go that will be 27 miles, will have BJ, just have open menu or buffet if you want, I thought the buffet just was much quicke and meet everyones needs. BLUE MOON will still be offering fuel discounts to all OSO members. I'll let F&L GUYS KNOW WE WILL BE ON OUR OWN THIS YEAR, JUST TRYING TO GET It somewhat organized, last year was fun even though it rained. wiggler

Re: SHOOTOUT fun run-LOTO

Wiggler,
I appreciate the effort you put into making this a larger event than in the past, but I have to agree with the other guys on this page. This began as a simple fun run where everyone could actually "go" somewhere, meet new faces with names and have some fun. It was also a long enough run that most everyone could join in no matter what mile marker you were at or what size boat you had. While I agree that the buffett idea seemed to work much better than waiting on service, it may not be for everyone. Actually, I would like to thank you for getting Big Dicks to step up with MUCH better service than in years past. Seems like a few years ago, even though they were told/warned about the incoming crowd, the young lady running the bar thought her and one waitress was more than enough to handle things. Funny, a year later she was working at Docknockers.
At any rate, I look forward to making the run. I already make other donations to the cause so I personally would rather not turn it into a poker run. But, if that's what the majority wishes, is it bad taste if I still go along?
