IPOD for the boat

Hey everyone. I just got an ipod for the boat. Everything has been easy so far, but I need some help.

I downloaded itunes for my home pc and work. I have loaded quite a few songs on the ipod from home, but I can't figure out how to upload them to my office itunes? I can play them find at work but only when the ipod is connected. When I disconnect the songs go with the ipod.

Any help?

Ah, nevermind I figured it out. You have to have a MAC to get that feature  . If you don't have a MAC here is a program that allows you to upload from the ipod to your pc.

the upload from the ipod to the itunes is the difficult one, i assume apple made it hard so that it wouldn't make sharing songs easy with others, kinda a copyright protection, you will have to find a program that lets you access the "hidden" songs on the ipod and download to your pc or mac... the one i got was called http://www.copypod.net/ i think there are better ones out there now, but at the time i did it, it was the only thing i could find...

Blee, there is a hack program to do that. I'll see if I can find it if you need it.

EPHPOD works for me. Great little utility, interface, hack, whatever you want to call it to pull songs off an iPod very easily. Email or PM me if you need it. OSO dosen't allow you to attach proggy here on a thread.

WARNING: When hooking your iPod to another PC watch for the first prompt asking if you want to 'marry' or sync your iPod to that PC ... if you answer 'YES' to that first prompt ... you will wipe out all of your songs and reload the thing with their songs! Then if you have no back-up of your music, you will be spending much time getting yours back to where you had it and all your music restored ... loading each CD all over again :( Got the T-shirt ... that's how I found EPHPOD utility ... now my chit is backed up ... twice! :evilb:

I just went through HELL trying to get the songs on my iPod and iTunes from my Mac to my new Dell PC. I finally took it to an Apple Store and they did it for me. Now my iPod only works on my Dell PC but I still have all the songs on my Mac Laptop.
They did some complicated file swaping, I tried to follow but it was pretty involved.

Last year when I replace the entire stereo system, my electronics friend talked me into an iPod instead of a CD player...best thing I ever did. Enough music to last the entire month, and it hooks right to the Pioneer setup.

if you leave all of the music on your hard drive you can copy it from computer to computer, unless it was originally downloaded by itunes.

I have the IPOD nano what works best to get the music from the ipod to your boat stereo? I know there are several ways, put I have heard that some have allot of static.

If the stereo has an AUX input, get a cord that will plug into it and the Ipod (usually 2 rca jacks and a mini plug on the other end) and use that. If not, the next best thing is a cassette adapter, but it has to have a cassette player. If you use one of those little radio senders they are prone to static from real radio stations trying to make their way in along with the Ipod signal. I tried a bunch of different things before finally just buying a new head unit that had an AUX input, works the best, hands down.
