OT: new chevy truck 8.1 upgrades
has anyone done any upgrades to these motors and how did it work. truck pulls excellent but looking for a little more quickness ( got beat racing a powerstroke with chip) anybody done exhaust, comp. chip to these yet?? truck is 2002 3500 dually crew cab 4x4 with the allison.

You should deffinatly look into the Whipple System. The 8.1L Kits make huge Power and Torque gains. If you do the kit with the intercooler the Hp peaks out right around 500 at 4500 Rpm. And torque levels reach almost 900 Ft.Lbs at 3000 Rpm. That should give those diesl guys a run for there money.
I have installed the kit on our shops 2000 Taho with the 5.3L and we tow a 28' twin engin boat with no problem. Add some exhaust like the B&B system, and an intake upgrade such as Airaid and you will be hauling ass. Plus the Whipple Guys are super helpfull and I wouldent recomend them otherwise
