Info on Dawson Creek area of NC

Saw this ad in a boat mag for lots strarting at $44,900. Gated community with marinas. Anyone know about this area (Dawson Creek, NC)? Sounds too good to be true. Always looking for that retirement property with the dock in the back yard. Thanks

There is alot for sale in that area and always has been.... kinda no man's land between Outer Banks and Wilmington.... I have been on the Neuse River plenty and I cant remember if we went up that creek or not.... I would look around a bunch. 44,900 I am sure gets you a non-waterfront 1/2 ac or so with most of it being wetlands.... be careful.... some real good developers in that area and some real scumbags too

Thanks Masher,
I'm in Phoenix so I don't want to waste time or money checking out "swamp land". I thought I might get some feedback here. When you say no mans land... are you talking desolet (sp) as in no hope, or not developed yet (potential for nice place to live?

Nice place but pretty much out there. It is the only reasonable place left in NC on the water to buy stuff for the most part. The company I work for has done several out there. I have done two in the area. It depends if you like it. PM me the developer name and I betcha I know him... probably personally. If not I will tell you what to ask for and look out for. Nice area but it is all of what you like. I would just be wary of the developer mostly. Let me know if you need any help.

I have actually gone and looked at lots and developments in that area and others up creeks along the Nuese River. The water is very shallow and you can mostly only operate your performance boat at high tide and then you still have to be careful. If you need to go shopping or to the mall and run everyday erands forget it because you are way out there and away from everything. there are some nice homes along this area but I learned the boom was back in the 90's to early 2000's.

Thanks FeverMike,
that's good to know. I'd like to be able to jump in the boat and go.
