Anyone have this happen?

Last weekend a friend of mine had some people on his boat. One of the girls had a new swimsuit cover on. It got wet and left a big dye stain on the upholstery. He tried several cleaners to get it out but nothing worked.
Does anyone know what product might remove this kind of stain?

Thanks , Jerry.

Mr. Clean Magic Erasers have never failed me on ANY (and I mean ANY) stain so far. They are also gentle, and have never hurt anything of mine.

brand new jeans on my boat,,, tried all the standard upholstery cleaners. start with palmolive dish detergent and a mr. clean magic eraser, if that does not work, try mineral spirits, if that doesn't work try soft scrub w/ bleach, if that does not work, I have heard but never tried acetone... don't forget about the bleaching power of the sun, I had a magic marker stain that wouldn't come out no matter what I tried, after half a season baking in the sun it's not even noticeable... good luck

I am a HUGE fan of the Mr Clean Magic Erasers now. Cleaned up what I thought was already clean, and brought back some older upholstery that looked like new ones I had installed just last year. Amazing stuff.

in the past, my white bolsters got stained by the blue canvas cover. i've had luck using a rag soaked in bleach. lay over the stain and let it sit for a couple hours. just remember to condition the vinyl afterward. so it doesnt dry out.

As a last resort, I once used some laquer thinner to remove a pen stain from my vinyl. Yes, it does soften the vinyl, but the effects were not permanent.

Jerry, give me a call and I will pull something special off the shelf that will help if you already didn't go experimenting too much and setting the stain.
Call me and I'll send you some complimentry magic potion.

I have had great luck with WD-40 - takes out anything and doesn't seem to hurt the vinyl.

Acetone and lacquer thinner are big no-no's!
Those two will damage the vinyl. And if your boat has lexan windshields and some drips on it the lexan will be permanently damaged.
I don't think mineral spirirts or WD-40 will hurt. Try them on a small spot first.
