Fountain Advise Please.
I've been shopping for a boat for a while now after going out serveral times in my friends 35 foot cafe racer (he ruied me for normal boats). I found a 33 foot fountain with twin 300hp V8 outboards. The boat is a 1988 model and looks cool but needs some TLC. It drove kinda squirlly at high speeds compared to the Cigarette that drives like its on rails. should I be concered about this? Also, I hear these motors are obsolete and I'll have trouble keeping them going. One more thing.. The boat hauled ass (65-70?) but had trouble getting out of the water. Is there anything I can do to get out of the water quicker and still maintain the top end speed?

I'll try to give some unbiased advice The 300 HP V8 outboards are rather old and obsolete. They are either Johnson or Evinrudes. They will be hard to get parts for. And you will need to be doing some kind of work on them. How much are they asking for the boat? If you get it real cheap it might be worth it. Those old Fountains are pretty well built. I would go for inboards myself. How much do you want to spend? Boats are a pretty expensive hobby. I would try and get the newest boat you can afford. Good luck in your search.
